    Conventional vs. Ivf flushing

To me, the cost and availability of the sexed semen is the determining factor to your question.  If you IVF, you only need one straw of pre-sorted semen.  If you go the conventional route, you typically need 4-6 straws.  Although we have seen fewer embryos from IVF than conventional flushing, we...

    upgrade birthweights

We have never had a problem with birthweights on Upgrade offspring. Remember that birthweights in the northern U.S. (where he was born) can be considerably higher due to the climate.  His CE and BW accuracies are quite high in the ASA database, so that is a much better indicator than looking at...

    Looking for cowhide ottoman

Does anyone know of a good resource for custom furniture where I could have an ottoman made with cowhide?  Or, has anyone purchased one that could lead me to where to find them? Thanks in advance for your help!

    New Direction sale

The videos for the New Direction Sale this Saturday are now online.  I saw quite a few of these females yesterday and it is a really deep set of Simmental breds and opens. Unlike some sales, I think the videos (and cattle in person) are better than they look in their pictures...

    Iowa expo heifer show judge

Not sure who is hacking into accounts, but my guess is that "showcat" and "dogger" is the same person who hacked into Scott's account (Husker1).  The same posts are showing up on numerous threads.  Jason, can you look into this?

What's the earliest preemie you've had born and live?

We had one this year come 30 days early.  The heifer is small, but doing fine and is 2.5 months old now.

Combustible / Shear Envy Simmental Question

Oh no...I didn't even see you there.  You should have hollered at me, I would have loved to chat.  Combustible looks good. I'm not sure that he will get around Broker today, but he looked darn good in the stalls.  I haven't seen him on the move but looks a lot like Broker.  I believe he is homo...

Combustible / Shear Envy Simmental Question

Shawn, we just saw Combustible at the North American this week.  In fact, he will show today in a couple of hours if you want to tune in and watch online.  Actually, he is not a Foster bull, but rather owned by Forest Brooks Farm in Wisconsin.  He does not have any offspring on the ground yet...

    NLC Mr. Upgrade calves

We have been very pleased with our Upgrade calves so far.  We only had one Upgrade sired calf last year, I'll post his video below, but used him heavily last spring and have quite a few babies on the ground this year.  For us, he has sired wide based, structurally correct cattle that still have...

    Simmental bull to add power...

Upgrade will power one up as well as any that I've seen recently.  The bonus with him is that he passes on very good skeletal structure..not the case with all "power bulls".
