3 generations Bull to Grandsire progeny- Shorthorn

That Titan heifer is really growing up nicely. Very well made heifer. It'll be interested to see what frame score and mature weight she gets to, I think Shaker and Burwash on the bottom side will complement Titan quite well. Look forward to watching her grow up! Diamond Cutter is a remarkable...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Thanks Grant. I couldn't agree more about the benefits that embryo transfer can have in a herd! In my case, the reasonable price of a few embryos has established a fantastic cow family in my herd and I'm really looking forward to the future of my Sparkle line! I think that this Yesterday bull...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Thought I'd add some recent input to my old topic. Let me know what you all think of the bull calf and how the young cow is progressing. The roan ET heifer has had a pretty exciting couple of years for us. From her 681lb 205d WW, 1021lb YW, settling to her first AI, calving at 2 years and 2...

    Byland Mission's daughters udders?

This bull is for sale this spring, if anyone is looking for a mature 5 year old bull to get out and breed a bunch of cows! Recently passed a semen test and is in optimal breeding condition. Only selling due to high number of daughters working in our purebred and commercial herds now. First...

    Byland Mission's daughters udders?

I have been walking a Pioneer son of one these Mission daughters (RT Jackie 101s) for a couple years now. His first daughters just calved this spring and they have beautiful udders. Great attachment, small uniform teats, with lots of milk. These heifers are a cross section of genetics from many...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Here is the Primo x Sparkle bull calf all cleaned up for his sale picture a couple weeks ago. He had an adjusted 205d WW of 701lbs and is easily on pace for a 1200-1300lb YW on a slow growth high protein pelleted ration. Will be semen testing in a couple of weeks. He is still incredibly...

    At a loss

Sounds like it could be a cerebellum issue to me. There is known congenital cerebellum issues in angus, shorthorn, and holsteins, but can also be associated with BVD infection when the cow is pregnant. Always a chance of one-off congenital issues in any breed. If it is a brain issue like that...

    Leader 9th daughter

Poplar Park recently got back a decent stash of 4R semen. I AI'd a few to him, and a few more to a son- JT Titan 3T for them this spring. Be interesting to see those calves next year!

I've got a tank full of red and roan bulls a few miles from your place that would improve a lot of the major faults in that cow...  (lol)

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

She got a few mouth fulls (maybe 2-3lbs) of calf starter ration per day in July when I was showing, mostly just to keep her looking full. No creep in pasture or anything. In that pasture pic it's been almost 2 weeks since she's seen any grain and 3 days with no milk (unless she's one of the few...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Pic I snapped this afternoon of Sparkle 1C ET on pasture with her recip mother. The quiet wean paddle doesn't seem to be bothering her too much!

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Thought I'd post some updated pics of a couple of these calves from some summer shows. I showed KF Sparkle 1C ET at 3 shows, 2 of which she was champion heifer calf and one 2nd place finish. Both judges that placed her first commented after the Grand Champion Female class that they were very...

    First flush- JT Daisy 99K

I will try and get some pics of some daughters this weekend when I take her back to her owners farm. Here is a picture of a son, Hatfield Snow Duke 50A. He is a 2 year old sired by Hatfield Snowman 11W (Northern Legend 3N out of an Eionmor Mr Gus 80C cow). He is working at Up The Creek Cattle...

    First flush- JT Daisy 99K

Nothing more exciting as a vet student than completing my first embryo flush! And it was very successful too! JT Daisy 99K (pictured) had twins in March at 15 years old, and her breeders asked me if we could try and flush her and purchased a flush from her current owner. Well the old girl...

Calf born with heart in its throat

Pretty cool story! Interestingly enough, we have a calf just like this at the vet college here in Saskatoon, SK, Canada right now too. She's a couple months old now, with all the spunk and energy you'd expect of a normal calf. She's been here for about a week now, last I heard they didn't know...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

I'm hoping that they perform and produce like their mother and sisters have! I also purchased 4 embryos from Grant out of HC FL Sparkle Delight 1X that are sired by Paintearth Rama 53U that I'm planning to implant this spring. The herd may be fairly steeped in the Sparkle lineage in a few years!
