Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

I would breed them to a purebred Charolais, assuming they are hairy enough. I have bred several to OBG Tickle and have raised a really nice comp char/market heifer out of him and a monopoly cow. Can't go wrong with bull from the firewater line on clubby cows or I think that the new bull Honky...

Bulls for second calvers to make show steers

I want to try HI HO silver, but am really afraid of using anything with alias in the pedigree.  The only crips I have ever have had alias in the sire, it could be a wmw thing, but I wont try a bull again w alias, but  loving the hi ho silvers im seeing online. I have seen several HiHos that...

Bulls for second calvers to make show steers

I like my Hi Ho Silvers out of second calvers. I'd say two were 70s birthweight and one was in the 80s All came unassisted. One on due date and the other two 4 days and 8 days early. He's THF, calves come stout, hairy, and big boned. A lot more consistency than Bulls like Dakota Gold in my...

Does walking help a calf that pops in his joints?

Running a calf or at least making them trot can stretch out a Pastern a quite a bit. The fact that he only pops one makes me question as to whether he might have just a touch of foot rot on that one hoof. That can make them want to roll their pastern/hoof wall a little bit if it's not a severe...

    Calving ease Char bull

Looking for a bull to breed a composite heifer to. Does anyone know of any Char bulls (Registered Composite or Purebreds) that could be considered calving ease? Also needs to be TH Free if a composite.

Opinions on Set Me Free bull

Set Me Free needs used on softer, big middled cows that have some sense to them. The ones I have been around have been pretty high strung, similar to the Walks and BiM calves. He can really freak them up though and add some real muscle shape and size.

    Calf sick-Need advice

I have a calf that has been weaned a little over a week. He and another were coughing, ears down, and snotty noses. They were given Draxin and Penicillin. One cleared up entirely and acted good the day after. The other was still coughing so my dad gave him something else 5 days after. I'm not...

    False Heat??

I have been reading other related topics but wanted to get direct input.I have a cow that showed false heats last year as a heifer. Discharge and all but no standing, she would even chase and ride the bull. She was bred 6 weeks ago and I thought she was bred as the same paint has been on her...

Physical traits of a PHA carrier?

I already am sending off a sample to be tested on the bull since Maine bulls have to be tested now. I was assuming that he was clean and just wanted to know for sure. I was interested in knowing if others had seen a trait in most of their carriers or if there are no physical signs like there are...

Physical traits of a PHA carrier?

I know there are a few signs to watch out for to tell TH carriers and I generally guess them based on their heads and the type of hair that they have. Based on what we have had tested, I've been right thus far. We have two Whiskey daughters that need tested for PHA and one has a Daddy's Money...

    Bred heifer in cool room?

We don't have any steers this year and I am wanting to put our cool room to good use. I have a fallborn heifer in the room this summer but am not sure whether I should put in one of the yearling heifers. The one I was planning on is already a month bred. I have heard that putting heifers in cool...

Calving Ease Sires:Ali Solution, Daddy's Money, No Worries

We had 4 Daddy's Money Calves. All of ours came real small. I'd say he's a definite calving ease sire. 3 were all around 60 give or take and 1 was maybe 70-75. They are all growing good, very hairy. All were unassisted. The bulls are stout and stylish but I think they could use more foot size...

    Not what we were expecting

Why were you expecting it to be small or black out of Crowd Favorite if he himself is a peach colored Heat Wave son? Is it supposed to be out of a different bull?

    Set Me Free

The calves that I've seen out of him have been freak fronted, big boned, super stout, and way hairy. They don't seem to be the softest middled or best tempered cattle but he would definitely work well on those chubbier made carrier cows.

What to flush Monopoly cow to

Her first calf is a nice No Worries heifer that is big boned, stout and cool fronted. Not quite as good as her mom as she is too stout to win big as a breeding heifer and yet still too feminine to win as a market heifer. I think she could raise some high dollar steers in the future though. The...

What to flush Monopoly cow to

I have a Monopoly x Dr Who x Meyer cow that I'm planning on getting flushed this spring. She's TH and PHA free. Super hairy, impeccable on her feet and legs, long bodied, square hipped and deep middled. She could tie higher out of her shoulder and have a little more power as she is super...

    Commercial Heifer Question

I really like her. Square, good hipped, big boned. She still looks fairly angular in her design which is ideal in a breeding heifer ring. If she's sound I'd say you could be pretty competitive. May even do better than you would have in the market heifers.

    Club bulls

I can't say that I'm a big Dakota Gold fan. He does have a place in the industry but I have seen and heard of several calves that haven't turned out. Some haven't had enough hair or were too hard doing/shallow. He is also a rounder hipped bull and I'd say based on the pics it wouldn't hurt to...

Opinion on heifers and thoughts for breeding?

I agree with No Worries. More consistent calving ease than I80. Calves come small and have some vigor and the bull certainly won't sacrifice bone, foot, or stoutness. In fact, he ended up adding bone and power to our cows which are Monopolies and most of the calves come out with white on their...

    Calving Ease Heifer Bulls

I really like No Worries for calving ease. We had two heifers this year. They came small and are growing really well. We sold one for 3500 out of a $1500 cow. The other we are keeping and showing, he really powered up her dam which is a double clean, really sound, maternal, flat muscled Monopoly...
