JSF The One and BFS Red Reality Opinions/Calves

Anyone used either bull or seen them in person?

Straw of semen a different color

It's the type of diluent studs use to freeze the semen in.  Yellowish is typically egg yolk based, many studs use it.  White is milk based, genex and many others use it.  Milk pocket thaws a bit better if I remember right other than that they are similar in effectiveness.

We got the falls all clipped up!

Here is the Blue diamond bull. Ohlde raised him, he came with the cow herd and had cleaned everything up.  We had several "white park" colored calves out of him. Some white calves with black noses and a touch of black/blue on the ears.

We got the falls all clipped up!

She's a full sib to JP Jazz.  She's a tank for sure, definitely a lot chunkier in person than her pic.

We got the falls all clipped up!

Hey everyone, we went through all the falls ( clubbies and the shorthorn herd we bought from Jake Ohlde), and clipped up some to find some decent calves under all the shag.  Thanks to those who posted about Sultan and our sale on the other thread, we really appreciate it! We are having an...

Having problems with flushing a cow and need advice.

Exactly, that's why I said I would be hesitant to do IVF, unless you are just bombing out on your conventional flushes and getting 0.  IVF definitely has its place, frequency of collection, collection on pregnant females, max utilization of oocytes, sexing capabilities(for now), use of a minimal...

    Breeding suggestion.

Cool deal!  We've used some of Horn's bulls and really like them. Flush some to BDR and like the calves, really complete.  He definitely won't add much depth or soften them up but he's clean, stout, and puts a look in them. <rock>

    Breeding suggestion.

For clubbies= MAB and Fu man chu are softening up cows up while still adding power. For shorties= JP Jazz and our bull Sultan will moderate, add depth, rib, and keep look. Or starburst-stouter but some of ours have been a little tighter made if not used on something chunky. Here's a young...

Having problems with flushing a cow and need advice.

We usually wait 45-60 days between flushes to let the cow "reset" a bit.  Usually when you push them to quick you can get stimulation but quality and fertility suffers for some reason.  You can re-flush a cow in 30 days but she better be a fertile myrtle.  I've seen maybe 1/10 with the ability...

Having problems with flushing a cow and need advice.

Rec'd, I'd have dialed this one down a bit the second time to shoot for 10/12 or so.  Also, unless your bombing on flushes I'd be hesitant to IVF.  You'll pay twice as much to get half the pregnancy rates on IVF.

    Cow Talk

I'd say JP Jazz lines for shorthorns.  We've got two 10 year olds and a 7 year old bull, direct sons or grandsons, that are still out chasing cows like young bucks.  The cows' udders are great, and you won't find many as moderate, easy keeping, or stout, especially for calving ease.  My only...

    Bull Talk

Isn't No Worries a blaze face bull.  I'd still think you'd get color on shorties.

    Control Freak calves?

These are the things I was wanting to find out.  Thanks, I've been keeping up with the calves on FB.  Just looking for a more unbiased view on here.

Nun Better or other 2015 New Bulls' calves

What 2015 sires have you been excited about so far, clubby or purebred, and which ones will you use/not use again?  As always pics, cow types, and birth weights are appreciated.

    Cow type for MAB

All of the good MAB's we have had have been out of zipper fronted smooth shouldered cows that aren't on the small side.  He will add power, mass, and bone to them. Here is a MAB x 801 donor that we will have in our April 17th online sale.

    Control Freak calves?

Anyone have any babies on the ground out of Control Freak, the competitive edge bull.  I really like how Raymond is marketing his bulls, not flashy promotion.  Never met the guy and not trying to promote him but I like what he's doing and I'll start using more of their stuff. Anyways, what have...

Probably so, yeah he definitely wasn't bred for performance.  Just like Damn proud and Jazz his best days are ahead of him. He'll look his best as a 4 year old.
