    Canadian truck convoy

WOW, what a s??? show this thread turned into. Trump said Putin was smart, so if that is not the truth, then Putin is not smart? Not intelligent? The USA involvement in the 2014 election in Ukraine has a lot to do with this. Eight years this has been boiling. Things like this happen when too...

    Aluminum Livestock Trailers

While the FMCSA rules are hard to get through. The 150 "Farm Us Exemption" covers most all trucks for a 150 mile radius, where this radius starts has rules to- it is not always your home. Outside of the 150 mile radius you can utilize what they call "Occasional Personal Use", but the GVWR has...

    Aluminum Livestock Trailers

Federal motor vehicle laws state any combination with a combined GVWR of 26,001 and up must have a CDL and meet all safety requirements (vehice inspections, triangles, log book, etc..), but farmers have a 150 mile radius from their farm/field that this doesn't apply to. I just recently bought...

    Saskvalley stampede

Genomics work great for single gene diseases. But all the traits in EPDs are not single gene controlled, I assume they are using Genome Wide Associated mapping to create EPDs. The problem, which has been mentioned many times, is that the Shorthorn breed does not have a large enough sample size...

    Bulls siring larger frames

XBAR, can you define what would be "supplements"? Is mineral a supplement, lick tubs, salt, corn stalks, brome hay, alfalfa, silage, corn?... I live in the Iowa, we get snow, sometimes deep enough they cannot forage adequately. So for someone to not supplement, I assume you are talking about...

CORONA TIME- CREEPY CALLING ALL FRUITCAKES THE NUT IS ON HERE

"Until there is significant containment which could take a year" From the beginning, this was never about containment, it has always been about Mitigation. Slowing the spread of the virus, so the health care needs are not overwhelmed. it will spread to every place where humans exist, some of...

Houston stock show and rodeo canceled???

As for Russsia, I have some contacts there. I reached out to them last week. Russia is living life like normal. When China first reported in January, Russia shut down their borders, and shut down the flights from China. They have recorded some positive cases, but they were at the Moscow airport...

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

I can touch or get within inches of all me shorthorns, so they must be wild...... So far I have not had a wild Wagyu, but I bunk feed everything. I bought cows and a bunch of semen from the Panora State Bank in Iowa, when a guy Denny something? went bankrupt with a herd of Wagyu. Some story...

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

So far, I have not had a calf over 70lbs. Lots of vigor. The Wagyu I am using have been as tame as my shorthorns, but big horns. There are multiple strains of Wagyu, they kind of have their own "breeds" within the breed.

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

I should do more genetic testing to verify. I started off doing a bunch of the marbling and tenderness testing- I ended up going through the company, as the Association didn't recognize or record some of the tests. As time has passed, it has been harder to keep throwing money at the testing...

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

I started my Wagyu integration project in 2004. If you have seen a Wagyu you know their phenotype is not for many people. The F1 crosses have all been black, and horned- and big horns, take them off early. You aren't going to win rate of gain, but the carcass is awesome. I steer all the bulls...

Looking for old Shorthorn bull pics

The price of corn in 1973 was $2.50/bushel, in today's dollars that would be $14.78/bushel. Feeder calves were less than .50/lbs, but using .50 that would equal 2.42 today. The world wants cheap food. Even if it takes expensive equipment to produce it. So far in history, farmers have little...

    More corn

The bull is AF SL Sure Thing, reg# 4143549. Bought him from Robert Alden back in 2009. His ASA EPDs don't look the best, but I only registered 10, used him on some commercial cows and they fed out well. I was feeding a bull for the Big Bull contest at the ISF, the two bulls got together, and...

    More corn

The article states the mutated ("bear claw") ears have 50% more kernels, but is doesn't address if the kernels are the same size. Or the fact that the cob is larger, retaining moisture longer, or that most of these ears don't have husk cover- so the tip kernels are damaged. These ear also do not...
