New bull, first calves...one happy girl!

Reached the point that we have more black and blue than red...finally convinced the hubs it was time to go back to a Shorthorn bull so we are looking for one this spring and I’m pretty excited about it!  My purebreds are getting some age on them!  I did purchase some heifers from E6 and Winters...

Excuse the mud...February weather has been nuts...calves born fall 2017...by herd bull Fred ...had twice as many heifers as bulls, wish I could talk hubs into keeping them all for replacements 😃

here's some pics of my girls and calves...jpj influenced...from daughters to great granddaughters...the black and blue females are out of purebred cows and an angus bull...will be breeding whole herd to the bull pictured this year...once I get these black and blues calved out a time or two...

had our first calf crop using a purebred angus on the purebred shorthorn cows...went great! 100% live calf crop first time! the only bad part is...I don't know if ill ever get the hubs talked back into using a shorthorn bull again...he's sold!  so...I need some suggestions on the angus side...

thinking of trying them this year, any opinions? my biggest concern is, when i have seen them administered, the cows always blow really hard after getting them, are they blowing it all out?
