    JBS Da Big Hurt

Medium Rare, your comment about there not being someone at the ASA to have a conversation with about the oddities you point out is a good one.  Makes me appreciate this site and contributes like you. I know they’ve done some tests on bulls with UI, albeit with small sample sizes, would be...

    JBS Da Big Hurt

No dog in this fight, I’d say Trump is more crossbred than this bull, they’re similar but Trump carries the big shot of Chi on the bottom side.  Nevertheless, trumps been pretty consistent the past three decades.

    JBS Da Big Hurt

Posting this pic here for someone because I can’t figure out how to add a photo in a direct message. This is a bull that was born in 93 (same year as Trump and Doublestuff) and appears to have not gotten a lot of use until 99.  He has a lot of cunia and Dividend breeding in his background.

Article about HS Rodeo Drive written by Doc Hunsley 20 years ago

The Warrior win did mark a turning point, but from what I recall Dynamics was reserve and he was a monster.  What a weird time in Shorthorn history. Isn’t it wild that the base for modern Shorthorn show winners was coming together 30 years ago with CD and Rose T90?  Both basically Maine/Irish...

Article about HS Rodeo Drive written by Doc Hunsley 20 years ago

I don’t recall seeing it in the pedigree, but my guess would be that he was some % Chianina. His half brother LCS Sunset Strip out of HS Ultra Brite and sired by HS Instant Enticer was listed as as some % Chi in one of their ads.  He was also listed as “lighter red than most” or something like...

Article about HS Rodeo Drive written by Doc Hunsley 20 years ago

Here you go.  I think CD marked the beginning of the end of the frame era in Shorthorns.  He is listed as a 7.5 frame.  In the same issue, March 92, Rockdale Powerdream (by AKF Power Play) was national champion and C Cisco (by HS Instant Enticer) was reserve national champion bull.  Both were...

Article about HS Rodeo Drive written by Doc Hunsley 20 years ago

Sharing something I found interesting.  Perhaps this will be educational to some and simply nostalgic to others.  I’m sharing a photo of an article about HS Rodeo Drive from the September 2001 issue of Shorthorn country.  The article was announcing that Rodeo Drive was put down after suffering a...

Attention Shorthorn Gurus and Furus - old bull pics!!!

Sharing a couple different pics. The black and white photo is JBS Astronaut, the red and white bull is CSF Maintainer, and the others are named.  Based on the sales on the sire buyer website  the demand for these older bulls is more than I thought it’d be. Kinda cool to see.  Rustler might be...

Isle of Swona. Feral Angus/Shorthorn cattle herd.

Thank you for sharing.  This is really interesting.  I like the look of the cattle, but some things don’t make sense.  For example, how does that solid white cow have a solid white calf when all of the bulls are either solid black or solid red?  It seems like they’ve been feral for a short...

Forgot I came across this one.  JDS Fireman was Maine sired by Power Plant. Looks big, but interestingly has an 11 CED and 2.7 BW epd, for what that’s worth.  Majority of his registered Shorthorn calves were at Rocker Bros who were 50% owners w possession according to ASA.

Yeah, old Robin donor cow.  Wanted to post the pics on here and hear some thoughts, but you have to be a member and I couldn’t think of username, almost went with Dreamboat haha.  I’m not affiliated w green ridge, just an anonymous former customer - I assume there are a lot of us still around...

Always liked the way Ultjmate Type looked.  Was he too moderate for the frame score era of the 80’s.  Seems like good genetics that got left behind because of a fad.
