    Wymore is home!

Finalized he deal yesterday to switch posesion, and turned him in with our cows. He looks pretty good for a 6 year old range bull. I still believe he's a more complete bull than his daddy! Visitors welcome anytime!

I'm about ready to give away a calving ease bull!

Last night I checked the heifers, then went to a meeting. I was back within 2 hours, found a heifer trying to mother a dead calf. No sign of stress on cow or calf, except calf's head was turned under it's shoulder. This is the third (first calf) calf I've lost by similar reasons this year. Some...

Of Bibles and cellphones. (cattle trailer related).

Yesterday a gentleman and his granddaughter were turning into our driveway with their truck and trailer. Those of you that have been to our place know what a blind intersection it is, and the state just recently raised the 1920's style highway to 65 MPH. An oncoming couple on their way to watch...

Carcase yeilded 70%, with 19" loineye!

After responding to Knabe's thread on butchering, I thought I'd pass along this. In a Nebraska test recently a Shorty steer yielded over 70%, with a 19.1" loineye. He also topped the "carcass" rate of gain,(Not live). Here's the disgrace! Carcass only graded USDA standard. When is the USDA...

PHA! It may be over sooner than you thought.

Just got off the phone with Donna (with Agrigenomics). I'd been waiting for PHA results on Wymore. I'd asked to have him tested with the same DNA sample as the TH sent in couple years ago. This request was made very soon after the PHA test was made available. The results have been sitting there...

    Mr. Ozraptor, Sir.

There is a young man in our small comunity that has been passed up by all education standards (retarded). But, he has the observation skills of 15 Einsteins. Just to prove my point, there is no genetic link between intelligence and observation.

    Bovashield Gold FP 10?

We've been using this Pfizer product since it was introduced (maybe 10 years). Have had more than one Veterinary\cattle guru tell me that we'er wasting time and money boosting old cows. Once calves are backgrounded properly, there is no need to keep reintroducing the anti-genes (hope that's the...

    Scotty, G Bob, OH B, D L,& others. Where were y'all in "57"?

I was reviewing some linage and noticed some striking similarities between Leader 21st and some of our old cow lines. Dug out the old herd book (smells a little musty) and found that my father purchased a bull from Theimans in "57" (TPS Coronet Max Leader 2nd) that was nearly a full sib to the...
