He looks good John. Next go round, my Bar N Coalpit cow and her Goldenrod daughter are slated to be bred to TE. There are lots and lots of good cows out there, but of those that I have seen, his dam Muridale Goose 32R ranks right at the top.
Anyone with old Shorthorn Worlds that can come up with the name of the Reserve Junior Champion Polled Shorthorn bull in Chicago in 1960? A Lynnwood bull, but don't know full name.
I have heard Buster's sire, Eionmor Ideal 69F was a carrier. If so, it's likely further back than that. He does have a common sire on both sides of the pedigree, but it could have come from any ancestor.
I toured the farm on our way to or from the American Royal for the 4-H judging contest in 1960. We were second by one point to the Oklahoma team. First time I had ever seen an air conditioner in each bull barn. It was impressive to a junior in high school for sure.
I did a little digging and found Herman was the judging team coach at Ohio State at least from 46 to 53, so he well could have been at the halter of this one. From Steve's comment, sounds likely he judged some of the breeding stock classes at the same show.
Anyone know who judged the steers in Chicago in 1952 when this Ohio State calf, Ohio's Leader 2nd was champion and considered the model for all breeds?
