    Eye Candy Heifer

Here is a picture of our Eye Candy heifer.  Any opinions are welcomed.  She was born 4/12.  This picture is a few months old, I am trying to get the new ones onto my computer,  but I'm having problems today!

    N/C.........Baby Boers!

Great looking baby!  My daughter will be a senior next year and has decided that she wants to show a goat again (it has been 6 years since the last one) for her last year.  They are so much fun.  Good luck with him.

    crazy heifer/long story

Well we got some good news!  I spoke with the ranch manager and explained that - no, we would not be returning the heifer because the local county scramble committee would not allow us to pay back the $1000 and get her papers.  They were gracious enough to tell me to keep taking care of the...

    crazy heifer/long story

I wouldn't want to bad mouth the place we got the heifer from because they are very willing to work with us.  If she had not been a scramble heifer they would have switched her out.  That  is not an option, so they are willing to refund the entire purchase price ($1,000 certificate money and...

    crazy heifer/long story

We have put the heifer out in the pasture with the other cows. She will continue to be cared for, however she will not be going to any kind of function.  It would be dangerous and not to mention cruel to the animal who would spend an entire week circling a tiny stall because she is so nervous...

    crazy heifer/long story

I thought about leaving her there and putting a stop payment on the check that I had given them, but I worried about legal ramifications.    All this worrying about taking her back is senseless because after telling my husband that the ranch will take her back, he called the scramble committee...

    crazy heifer/long story

[color=navy]This is a long story but in order to understand the whole background needs to be told.  In October we purchased a scramble heifer for my son.  We viewed the animals on a Saturday and purchased her in a live auction the next day via the internet.  On at least two heifers in this...

Heard a New Gripe About Obama Last Night

I am employed with the local school district in the Child Nutrition Office. My title is Student Accounts/Application Processor.  It is my  job to process the applications for free/reduced lunch for the HUNDREDS of people who claim to need free lunch, yet they are driving Cadillacs and their...

    insurance on show cattle

Thanks for all the input.  I am looking into some of the places suggested.  We have never felt the need to do this before, but I just want to make sure there would be no hard feelings if something did happen.  It would only be for about 20-24 months.

    insurance on show cattle

How do I go about obtaining insurance for a couple of show heifers.  We have never done this before, but with these two animals it is going to be needed.  We will be showing a heifer for someone that is going to want her back and both parties want to make sure that if something happened we would...

    eye candy heifer calf

The mama is a Schultz Foreplay cow.  She is a great cow - she has her calves quickly and easily and they are always good growing babies - just kind of plain, though.  Last spring when it was time to breed her I got on Steer Planet and asked for some advice as to what bull would add some bone and...

calf born last night won't stand

The calf is up and walking really well now!!!!    We are so excited - her right back leg still falls down some but she is starting to put more weight on it.  You can look at the leg and see where it is lacking muscle.  She did get a shot of BO SE on Wednesday.  We are definitely not giving up on...

calf born last night won't stand

Just thought I would post an update on our calf.  She is getting stronger and can stand if you get her up and she is a ferocious eater (she is so big and mama is short, so sometimes she nurses flat on her belly).  Husband took her to the vet this morning because we noticed that the problem seems...

calf born last night won't stand

Thanks for the responses.  I am feeling better about the situation. The vet said the same thing - that it could be a couple of days before she is up and going.  The calf really wants to nurse and goes at it like crazy when you get her over to mama.

calf born last night won't stand

We had to have the vet come and pull a MUCH ANTICIPATED calf from my son's best heifer yesterday at about 6 pm.  The calf was very large.  She is alert and when we tie her mama up and put the calf's head up to the teats she latches right on and goes to town sucking.  However, it has been 12...
