    Remington Lock and Load 54u

I was able to get some - apparently mine came from one of the first collections after his accident.  Got 30 freezable embryos using three straws on one flush.  I understand its few & far between.

Unfortunate Loss of a young Steerplanet Member

Unfortunate and senseless loss.  I got to know him personally through shows.  He was always willing to help and knew what he was doing.  RIP Karlton.

    Cow Choking on Placenta

We've had it happen before too.  We can't watch them all and the ones on pasture do what they will.  However if I see it in the pens, I get rid of it before the cow can get to it.  That is also partially for my own benefit as my gag reflex is triggered by the sound of it! blech.

Steer show classifications...is it time to change?

I guess I don't see the problem.  Fortunately (or unfortunately) we don't have to classify here.  Steers have to have papers..    And a Sim steer can be sired by MAB, Monopoly, HW, pick any clubbie bull... as long as the cow is a registered simmental.  Technically she should be a PB making the...

    SS Gunslinger Simmental bull ?

I liked what we got and will use him again. I would agree with this. The calves we got are thick enough but might wish for a touch more frame.  I like the soundness and bone we got.

    retaining flushes

It really depends on how well I know the seller.  Most of the time, the flush never happens and if it does, its supposed to be at the convenience of the buyer.  Also, look at the details of the flush..  does it specify number of embryos?  We have purchase several with a retained flush and its...

When is the latest you would castrate a show steer?

How late would you cut or band a bull and still expect him to be a good show steer?

    Question about ESSENTIAL FEEDS???

We've fed the cattle feeds as well as the supplements.  I think the heifer developer is a pretty good product but not sure that it is much different from other company's developer.  Supplements.. we've fed several that they sell and had mixed results.  Like the lubrisyn, nu-grow, BR Fat, and...

    injured heifer

Make sure she got some kind of antibiotic injection.    Good old penicillin works pretty good on injuries.    She also could be given something for the inflammation .. what depends on if she is bred or not and what your vet would prescribe.  Otherwise.. hydrotherapy.. just run water on it 10-20...

where do you stay when showing at KC Royal?

Do not stay at Days Inn west on I70.  It was horrible last year.  They had a large group of Army, Guard, ROTC people come in and had room mixups like crazy.  Parking was a complete mess..  could not get out when we had to leave at 4am.

    Announcement from Tyson Foods

There may be other packers taking the cattle but it would sure be a scramble to find them at this point in the game.  It may be that Tyson owns all the smaller plants where the county fair steers go for the carcass contests.  I do not know the answer to that.

    Announcement from Tyson Foods

The problem is that the rules were changed at the end of the game.  If someone is/was feeding Zilmax, they are/were not doing anything wrong.  They can still show legally and if they win, fine.  The problem will be when they try to sell the steer because the packers are not wanting those...

    Announcement from Tyson Foods

In our county, the cattle are sold for a set market price .. plus whatever premium they bring through the sale.  So basically if the packer will not take the steer, all the kid gets is the premium.  They then have to find another place to market the live animal.  My problem with the...

    confused on feeding

I thought Gran 4 Tfyer had a ration scenario that was around 13% protein and 3% fat.  We fed this product for awhile but seems expensive way to buy a bunch  of cottonseed hulls I wouldn't normally feed.
