I'm looking for any thoughts on the simmental bulls CCR Wide Range and Koch Big Timber, specifically if you have calves on the ground and your analysis of their progeny.  Thank you ahead of time!

XBar, I'm assuming you have used Envied (from your comments).  What can you tell me about his calves?  Strengths and weaknesses. 

His maternal granddam is the dam of K-LER Kingsman and a few others.  I would expect to see a LOT more out of Dolly's Queen at next year's sale. 

Lot 74 sold for $180,000....I was wondering if anyone heard who bought him and also if anyone saw him in person.  He looked good in the video. 

My question is, how much money does the owner of these popular Angus bulls make on the bulls in their lifetime?  (I'm saying Angus because of the potential number of units of semen that can be sold).  Is 1.5 million a ridiculous figure or can someone make that back (and then some)? 

HGC, what blood pregnancy test do you use?  I didn't realize they have an onsite test available.

We've had a few calves out of Pendleton....they have come small and full of vigor.  No complaints on the calving ease side.  The calves all show good depth and soundness all around with the exception of the trend to slightly toe out, especially in the rear legs.  Not a big issue but definitely...

Thank you for the info.  I'll take a look at Eagle Eye (got any pics to share?)as well and I will also contact Gilmans.  I'm not necessarily looking for CE...more bulls that make good cows while also be sound and functional.  (clapping)

I have 2 shorthorn cows that I will be breeding in a few months.  I'm looking for a clean, maternal, sound bull that will add a bit of depth.  Will Yesterday do this for me?  I'm also thinking of Gilman's Envied.  Thoughts on these two?  Other suggestions of bulls that are easily available?

Can 3ml or 5ml semen be used like a conventional straw of semen in terms of AIing a cow?  Do you need a special way to handle them?  Thank you for any guidance you can give me.

This is my understanding of the dilution gene in simmentals although like most genetic related traits, it can be more complicated.  The dilution allele is dominant to the normal (nondilution allele).  If your heifer has the dilution allele and one nondilution allele then she will have a 50%...

I noticed that Select Sires no longer carries United and the semen now goes for $50/unit. Did something happen to him? I read somewhere that his semen is in short supply. On a related note: what type of cow does he work / not work on?  Thanks in advance!

I just bought some and received it last week.  From talking with one of the owners, that didn't have a huge inventory at this point and it seemed to be moving fairly quickly.  I will be using some of it soon on a couple of fall calvers.  I hope they turn out well!
