There's a product called orphan no more. It's a powder u sprinkle on the calf and its supposed to make the cow claim it.  I've heard nothing but good about this product , but have never tried it personally. It's relatively cheap too , like $12 a bottle

i agree that the good cattle should sort themselves to the top but not will. It is just hard to look at a class of 8 where 6(75%) of them are the same size and the two that win are way bigger and believe that a judge is actually seeing the class logically and not letting size affect his opinion...

I have personally witnessed CBowlin and his partner fit calves, and I have to say they do a real good job. That top steer picture was one they actually just did this past weekend. I have also heard they work at real reasonable prices too.

In my opinion go JPJ all the way! I have seen nothing but quality out of his calves. They arent always the best in the show ring, but they will cut your feed costs and maintain themselves. They typically dont reach the height a salute calf would, but thats why they are more productive. And...
