    County Fair Judges

This seems to happen every year in our county as well! There is a family in which their father is on the fair council board and he seems to have his hand in the pot when it comes to getting judges for our cattle show. Now unlike some county fairs, how well you do in the county show has no effect...

    Ringworm

ringworm is a self healing fungus. you can treat it and it will take 6 weeks to heal. you can also let it alone and do nothing to it which will take a month and a half to heal up. it seems hard to believe and it is hard for people to not "treat" ringworm on their show calves but it will make no...

    CE white shorthorn

He's built more like a jazz with his big square top and muscling throughout with a notch more  moderation about his frame size. However he is cleaner in his makeup than the majority of Jake's proud jazz calves and has a more stylish look about him like the show ring desires out of solution...

    prolapysed uterus..

My family has had a couple of cows prolapse in the past 5 years , we just recently had one a week ago . Our problem is the skin seperating the anus and the vagina rips , and our vet told us when that happens the cow is basically screwed and that it will never heal up. But the way all you guys...

    Cow rejecting calf

There's a product called orphan no more. It's a powder u sprinkle on the calf and its supposed to make the cow claim it.  I've heard nothing but good about this product , but have never tried it personally. It's relatively cheap too , like $12 a bottle

when will the show industry start to reflect the production side?

i agree that the good cattle should sort themselves to the top but not will. It is just hard to look at a class of 8 where 6(75%) of them are the same size and the two that win are way bigger and believe that a judge is actually seeing the class logically and not letting size affect his opinion...

    Purdue AGR

I have personally witnessed CBowlin and his partner fit calves, and I have to say they do a real good job. That top steer picture was one they actually just did this past weekend. I have also heard they work at real reasonable prices too.

    JJP or Salute?

In my opinion go JPJ all the way! I have seen nothing but quality out of his calves. They arent always the best in the show ring, but they will cut your feed costs and maintain themselves. They typically dont reach the height a salute calf would, but thats why they are more productive. And...
