Studers Sale Sunday Mitches couple stand way out
« on: October 14, 2014, 05:30:38 PM »
I went on the road and did about 4000 mi,in 7 days. Long story short-The best group of weaned (1day) calves Ive seen in MANY A YEAR-were at Jay Benhams -Stone Springs Farm Ohio-He casually has sold a bunch of the PRIVATE MALONES for 5-8000-He is a Llegit Low BW outcross-seeing is believing. The best sale hiefer-or otherwise ANYWHERE I went-is Mitches older white one coming up this Sunday at Studers-with several more of his right behind her-Again-there is a reason they sell so well-I saw the cows etc and they are better than described:gotta be one of the top small herds there is. NUMERO DOS-2nd best, younger and real close-another white hiefer-albeit a little younger-LOT 1: DTR Cattle co-selling Oct 25th-PAY ATTENTION-these have gotta be 2 of the very top end hiefers selling this fall (maybe in the top 20 or so OF ALL)-and would look good at Sullivans (thats a compliment to the job hes done) or anywhere. I've been trying to talk Tom into selling me that AOD heifer for over a month now. Great heifer.

Mitch is the straightest arrow you will ever meet-if shes in the sale-thats it-no wires-no games. And Im guessing given the momentum surrounding his cattle-shes gonna sell pretty strong.HOWEVER-Nancy Grathwohl Heeters AOD is ALSO right there-And if you dont get Mitches done:you REALLY need to look at the little DTR Cattle Co. Sale-thier calves were allways greener and smaller then went on to stand in the very top (even now still-very close) against everybody:including the $35000 hiefers-This one will handle ALOT of those Hi end hiefers-and not at $30-35000 although she"d be way up in the teens at a name sale:and Mid Continent paid quite a bit for half interest in her dam or a full sib there-of. I think we're gonna give it a pretty good go on Tom's, but I'm pretty open to any good ones. I'll give the DTR cattle a good look too. I noticed that Ed Meyer has some nice ones selling soon too. I didn't even realize I was in the market for one until I saw Tom's heifer.

The AODS are going to thin out some -due to the scarcity of semen-but these few we are talking about are all proven matings-Nancy has won Oklahoma Kansas, and stood up at Louisville and Denver for years with sibs of her hiefer-and Mitch has produced some really good AODS too. O0

No doubt Tom's calf will be one of the good ones to sell this fall. Did you see the built rights of Gillmans that are in Studers sell?  They look interesting to me.
Who ever buys the top in at DTR will look really smart next summer and fall.  They are just really good kind.  Mark you were remotely close to us (within a half day drive) you should have came by.

link to the DTR sale http://dtrcattleco.com/sales.html  Im barn blind -I bred the grandsire and dam of the moneyman bull-hes been used in alot of hiefers-no problem-and they really come on after about 7 or 8 months plus a couple pics of Private malone calves-they had just been weaned-thier dams were across the fence-and it was as noisy and chatotic as the superbowl-several very good bull calves too. How did the two pluses look at DTR?/// Real small at birth but catching up quick-both are going to be pretty thick-Thier sire is a hiefer deal but makes them wider and squarer than the pics show-and the Meyer son they used (would be thier dams sire) did the same thing WITH GROW-he was a really good bull-Ryan Heeter grew up with simmies and knows them pretty well. Tom's calves always stand out to me.

I hope the bids roll in on them as I think they've sold a little too cheap the past few years.

thanks for all the nice commets.  The cattle at Studers look good.  I think our AOD Heifer is the best white heifer in the midwest.  Come take a look Sat and prove me wrong.

The dtr heifer pic they could have done a better job trying to build her rear flank... I would rather see what she looks like naturally

Its called-"watch the video"-better yet-come back next year when alot of the other ones are stale-and have too much fat in thier udders-and watch her show-and go back out in rough southern Kansas conditions like all thier other ones and raise a calf. O0

My point being why did they build the flank to give the illusion. Never said she wouldn't be able to raise a calf and I did watch the video
