Many everyday things have been invented in Canada. Here are just a few of the many thousands...

- Kerosene
- telephone
- colbalt bomb
-electric stove
-air conditioning
- light bulbs
- electron microscope
- plastic garbage bags
- IMAX theatres
-tracer bullets for machine guns
- washing machines
- paint rollers
- Superman
- acrylics
-electric car
electric wheelchairs
-Zipper
newsprint
-gas masks
-and in the world of sport -  basketball, hockey, lacrosse, 5 pin bowling and roller skates
- Trivial Pursuit and Balderdash - games
-and last but not least - instant potatoes ( I doubt if we will get many thanks for this one!)

and in the world of industry, there are thousands of others. For example, in the oil business, C02 sequestion , where C02 is pumped into the oil zone and it allows many times more oil to be brought to the surface was developed here. Actually the first place it was used was here where I live and the first pipelines to carry the C02 are on our farm.

Just a little more useless information for you!

You Canadiens can brag about your accomplishments all you want.  Just remember this, though, when you think you're so smart:  If it wasn't for Al Gore from the good ol' US of A inventing the internet, you wouldn't even be able to tell us about it!

Well let me rephrase my answer-I really hope to thank the people of Canada for allowing this continent (police states in south America not included) to fend for itself in the energy arena with our bretheren of the desert. I really agree with them that they should practice thier eclectic cultural eccectricities (oh pooh pooh, please dont make jehad)in thier places of origen, and heartily agree that we are not the ideal areas for them to reside,or flourish. And as such-having been made aware by the media of instances of family practice that differ greatly from our collective cultures:My reaction might turn from casual curiosity to just a little REDNECK. I only wish that they return from whence they came:and have all ajustments, assistance ,and moral guidance-from our other desert friends-THE ISRALIS O0

Yea and La Nina (cooling of the Eastern Pacific Ocean) is strenthing causing large sections of the middle section of the country to be in moderate to severe drought.  They say one extreme follows another, the past four years has been rain rain rain here all year long and last summer the faucet got turned off and it hasn't been turned back on yet (hopefully not four years worth of it being off).  No comment on the swamp gas! ;D

And you Americans should remember that we only went to war against you once... and that was the War of 1812. We happened to win that war and we burned the White House in the process. Since then we have become a calmer and more gentle society and we are very proud to live next to your great nation. Between us we have the longest unguarded border in the world. Do you guys think Obama would be willing to do a swap with us? We will swap Quebec for Alaska and Hawaii. That's a pretty good deal isn't it? Just think of all the fresh water you would get in the trade. ( along with a society that bleeds our nation dry and threatens to seperate when they don't get their way)

JIT I beg to differ, How could Canada go to war with USA in 1812 when Canada only became a country in 1867? I think it was our fellow commonwealthers , the British, that opened the can of whoopass.

Well, that is very true... but the Brits were the ones that were living in what is now Canada. Luckily, the war was in 1812 as if it was today it would last about 5 minutes.... just long enough for us to tie a white rag on a stick and wave it.
