WOW! I did not see this in the Stockman. I was actually at this show and followed the judges picks all day until that selection. I would not have even put that calf third in that class. I know that this stuff happens all the time, but I have NEVER seen it so blatant. Everyone was speechless...

I just wanted to say you are doing a good job. It was very smart to put your steer on here and get feedback. That is really using your head. And it takes some courage to put your steer on here to potentially get critiqued. But that is how you learn. Good job and good luck! (clapping)

I know you are dissapointed, but thats really not too bad (2nd Place)! Anyway, you should be proud of yourself for sticking with it. I have been a part of a few of those types of deals where the family just gives up. You kept pushing and thats what matters.

Oh and yeah he moves pretty free I would say. And yes this is something that just kind of came up. I would say in the last few weeks to month and the calf is about 6 months old.

So we raise our own calves to show at county fair. We are trying to pick my daughters show steer for next year.  We like this calf for a lot of reasons but he seems to have a hump in his loin. If it is a structural thing that is going to lead him to walking bad I would rather stay away from it...

We really had good results with vitaferm show champ. When we started feeding we noticed improvement in hair and apetite in both our steer and heifer.

Thats awesome! Goes to show a truly good show steer can hang a good carcass also! <beer>
