Feeding a show heifer for the fall

Hi, I've been feeding a yearling angus heifer for show. Currently I'm giving her 10 pounds or so of purina beef mash with some soybean mixed in for the extra protein. I want to put some more cover on her, and I was just curious as to how to go about doing it. I was thinking of mixing either...

He gets hay, and for the last while i've just been feeding him a beef mash thats only 13% protein. He's growing, but...

    showmanship

The judge has always told me that you should be enjoying yourself out in the ring. It shouldn't look like you don;t want to be there, so I would say a smile wouldn't hurt.

    Starting a herd

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what you guys thought were some good (and fairly inexpensive) ways to start a little purebred herd.  Embryos? Good bred yearlings? Or Older cows towards the end of thier lives bred to good AI bulls? What are the pros and cons to each one? I know there are a lot...

    Embryos

Hi everyone, I had a question about embryo transplants. How does the whole process work? I've been thinking of buying some frozen ones in plugging them into a couple of cows, but I'm not sure how much it would cost to do, or how the process works. Could anyone help me?

    The Spread of Ringworm

Hi, I know that ring worm can be transmitted through halters and show combs, but is it possible that it also can be spread through the use of clippers? I only ask because I have read forums on here that say that Fluid Film is a good way to kill ring worm, so I was just wondering if the oil on...

    How big is your operation?

We run a small cow calf operation with 25-30 commercial angus cross cows, with a couple show cows as a hobby. Were in Nova Scotia, and we all work off the farm.

    Tear her apart!

Aside from that high tailhead, I really like her. It looks like she's standing on a good pair of legs. I hope she does well!
