Need Suggestions Roan or white THICK CE heifer bull Cannot be DS or PHA

MT, what about this one: HP Manimal 1C; White, triple clean. https://cattlevisions.com/detail.php?BullId=4346 I'd wanted to use him to breed some roans, but we liquidated the herd before I got around to buying any semen... still have some SH bulls in the neighbor's tank, and nowhere for them to...

What is favorite bull brought to your attention thanks to SP?

The Rob Sneed '034' bull - worked well in our commercial herd, over mostly 3/4AN-1/4SM cows. Still have semen in the next-door neighbor's tank, but no cows to put it in... Used one cane of Captain Obvious semen, but there was no growth there, and got nothing that earned the opportunity to stay...

Looking for old Angus and Simmental semen

Check the semen listings in the ACS classifieds at Advantage Cattle Services... I see old sires listed frequently... mostly Angus, but they'll have some Simmental, Red Angus, other breeds from time to time. Seems like Cattle Visions bought out the Angus Sire Service inventory some years...

    Abortion

My money's riding on it being a Neospora abortion. That said, by submitting maternal blood sample, fetus, and (most importantly, in most cases!) PLACENTA, you've increased the likelihood of getting a diagnosis.  But... as a veterinary diagnostic pathologist(retired), I can tell you that...

    Can't get heifer bred!!

But... was she vaccinated with a Lepto hardjo-bovis bacterin, like Spirovac?  And boostered appropriately? The old 5-way Lepto vaccines don't work against L.hardjo-bovis, which is a cattle-adapted strain, and typically presents as early embryonic death and frequent return to heat... rather...

    Bulls siring larger frames

Waukaru Gold Card 5042 and W. Patent 8161 made some big ol' cows, out of 3/4AN-1/4 SM dams; the Gold Cards were probably the biggest cows we ever raised. Steers... IDK, as they all sold as weaned calves. Almost all the Simmental sires we used in the past 10 years or so moderated mature cow...

    Cleaning Out Semen Inventory

Dale, I'm sure it's not high-$ stuff; bought them when Sue was handling the Sneed semen dispersal - and she may still have a bunch on hand, IDK.    Like bpwagner, I was just curious as to whether there was any demand for it at all... since we dispersed, I no longer have any use for it.  SP is...

    Cleaning Out Semen Inventory

How about semen from these two Shorthorn sires... any value or demand? Rob Sneed '034' - ASA #4078267 ArSuLu MacKenzie - ASA #3880557 Dispersed our entire herd last fall, have consigned all the Simmental semen to various sales, but still have some semen on these two SHs in the neighbor's...

    Simmental milk EPD’s

We had Simmental-influenced cattle since 1984... never had one that didn't have plenty of milk. You do realize that the Milk epd is not a maternal trait... it's a production trait, and comes with a feed price tag, just like the other production traits... WW & YW.  Don't know that I ever gave...

    fleckvieh fullblood semen

"maybe these old bulls have no merit, even on traits we can't see or measure yet, maybe they do" they do.  We used a full sib to ABR Sir Arnold G809 (G809 semen was no longer on the market) and a couple of G809 sons, back in the 1980s, and more or less linebred, in-herd, to him for years.  He...

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

CAB, Spring 2019 ST Genetics catalog had Red Galaxy listed at $60/unit for conventional, $80/unit sexed semen. He ain't pretty, but still... a much more desirable phenotype than most any other Wagyu/Akaushi bull I've seen (and I've only seen photos).  He is AA for the SCD enzyme test, which...

    incorporation of % wygu cattle.

Before we decided to liquidate, I'd been toying with the idea of breeding some to this red Wagyu(Akaushi?), Red Galaxy, at ST Genetics: https://www.stgen.com/sire-directory/beef-bull.aspx?code=203KB01327&language=english&title=beef-cattle Seems like I've also seen some Akaushi (red Wagyu)...

    Vaccine and Worming Schedules

I am a DVM, originally from UCLA (upper corner of lower Alabama), but I'm not YOUR veterinarian, and not in your locale. The article steve123 linked is a good start in explaining why strategic deworming is desirable, not just deworming based on a set calendar date. Pour-ons are a p***-poor...

    Vaccine and Worming Schedules

I'd strongly recommend developing a good working relationship with a local large animal/food animal veterinarian.  They will know what problems/diseases are prevalent in your area and can discuss what you need to do... depending upon what direction you're headed with your cattle, your...
