Thanks for the info. I think we should be fine on structure. The ones I have seen were thick big bodied  little rascals with lots of hair so I thought he'd work. Anyone have any BW/shape info though. As in are they reasonable, or is he also famous for 120 pound monsters?.

We used him on a first calving shorthorn heifer who had been shown up to a month before calving and was fat. Calf came out fine, a bit slow starting and is really nice now. Thick,thick, thick and sound. He added belly, leg set and muscle for us but made the calf a tick plainer than his dam...

AND... if she is eating that much feed and is still "too green to look at" imagine her BCS nursing a calf on pasture. Is she small in size compared to others in her class, or just much thinner? When you purchased her, was she far behind in growth and condition? How long have you been feeding...

I've had darn good luck with sexed heifer  Mo Better semen. It fit the normal gun (may be a universal gun though.), cow bred first time, and best of all she ultrasounded with a bouncing baby BULL. Guess im in the (un) lucky 10%. lol
