Walks Alone Calving help - updated with pics

My last two WA calves were about a week or so past expected date.  No problems, I wouldn't worry about it and I doubt you will see a 100lb calve out of him unless she has been on some good groceries.  Mine have been around 80-85 pounds.  Please let us know how it turns out for you.

Keep as a bull or steer him?

Wondering why you read my post but decided not to answer my question concerning hocking in as he travels?  Does he travel with a wide base or do his hocks come together on the move?

TCCA/TJLA ABC Heifer shows - need advice please

It will vary from show to show.  Some may have very few, while others such as BBB may be very competitive.  What is your goal?

    Daughters New Shorthorn Show Steer

Thanks for the kind replies.  He is a Sept born calve that I'm guessing to weigh around 500 lbs.  He will be shown here in Texas, I will have to see how he grows up before I will know where he will show in the end.

    Fort Worth & Houston

For me, Houston steer by far. As mentioned, very difficult to compare a hair with a slick but when they can slick and look that good you have something.  Best two slicks I have ever seen, Newman's San Antonio steer and this one.  2011 SA steer is the best I've ever laid my eyes on.

    question on breeding

I used Mr. Driven on Monopoly heifer with great success. Quick, easy labor and delivery. Got a nice yellow paint heifer out of the deal. G-Luck

    Birth defect? Graphic image warning

With that small of a cow herd to observe, it seems it would be obvious which one just had a calve. Sorry for your loss.

Keep as a bull or steer him?

The way his shoulder ties into his neck and the angle of his shoulder is an issue for me.  I would also like to know if he hocks in as he travels ?*

Who was grand and res at houston how we're they bred and who bred them

Grand Champion was no surprise, the Charolais shown by Flint Newman. The Reserve caught a few off guard. Congratulations to Kaden Hatla Breed Champion Limousin and Res Grand overall.

Our new show string for 2015 majors

Black steer looks straight in the front end in that picture.  Dont push the UM to hard, coast him along. Good luck, I look forward to seeing them at some jackpot shows this summer.

Cotton seed hull and beet pulp will do nothing to help your steer gain weight. Zero !!!
