I don't know a thing about Yardly Fortune, but have used Open Bar, and I really like him. Have not yet had any problem calving Open Bar from mature cows. I am also very impressed with the Ohlrich's . I like their cattle and they are good people.

    We will only have one this year. It was a bull calf, came yesterday at 282 days, unassisted. From an Ali daughter.

    Many of the best calves that I have seen from Sunseeker daughters have been sired by Ali, or a son of Ali. I'm not a fan of Hired Man.

      I raised Charolais cattle in the 70s, and up until a short time ago I believed that it was impossible to breed or produce a black , purebred charolais. I guess that I am still amazed at the thought.

    I know this may seem to be a stupid question, but is there an Angus bull that a person might consider terminal? I am thinking that he should be a bull that makes fast growing feeders that cut good, with no intention to keep his daughters as replacements. Is there such a thing ?

ABS has a red angus bull that is said to be a sure fire calving ease bull. Above and Beyond. I am tired of the inconsistant clubby calving ease bulls.

A sound bull never looks too straight before or after being collected or exercised. A sound animal is always sound. JMO

A sound Who cow is often a good cow. And Who still sires cripples just as a good milking Heat Wave is often a good cow. That doesn't mean that Heat Waves are known as good milkers. The odds are not in your favor for sound Whos or good milking Heat Waves.JMO

It doesn't always work, but if you could have them in the same pen, get a dog to go in and sniff the calf.Put something the dog likers on or near the calf, so that the dog will show an interest in the calf. Sometimes the protection response will trigger the mothering response. Earl

I have spoken to Dave Steen about this several years ago, and he said that commercial Maines were his goal.

I have watched Fred and Mike Hartman for several years. Cattle,llamas,donkeys etc. no matter what it has been Hartman's seldom get in or out at the wrong time.
