    Shake and Bake ?

I have always been interested in a son of Friction. It bothers me that many of them seem to have fertility problems. I have not heard that about Shake and Bake, but I have only seen a couple of calves. Does anyone on here have any experience or knowledge on this bull? The good and the bad...

    Warts behind the utter **HELP**

Zak, you seem like a great young man, and I enjoy your posts, but sometimes us old foggeys just can't leave things alone. The word you are looking for is udder, not utter. Two totally different things. Please don't be offended. Earl

    matt lautner's sale?

This is only the opinion of an old man, but I really felt that most of the calves were too small framed to hit the big time. I hope they do well, but they just were not my kind.

    matt lautner's sale?

This is just talk, but I heard that the top 3 steers all brought 15k. This included the no. 6 steer that I liked. All were said to have left the state.

    iowa sales

Calves Out of These Bulls... Please Give Opinions...

I have no experience with Heat Wave or his sons because I consider them strictly terminal. If it is show steers that you want, it would seem hard to top old Heat Wave himself rather than one of his sons. So for me that leaves only 2 bulls from your list. On commercial cows, Sun Seeker is a no...

    Maternal Standouts

We have used some Malor's Money Man, and did run into some rear leg structure problems. Not a lot , but some.Since the bull Dubai has been mentioned, I have looked into his brother Oklahoma Storm. The performance seems excellent, and he is clean. I might add also that we calved our first...

    205 day wt.

Does anyone know what the formula is for adjusting the 205 day wt. on the calf of a first or second calf heifer, as compared to an older cow. If memory serves me correctly, there was a 10% adjustment for a first timer. I'm not sure about 2nd. Any help much appreciated. Earl

    What Angus Bull

Are there a couple of Angus bulls that you good Angus producers and also club calf producers like to see in the pedigrees of your good ones ? Please limit your answers to bulls that I can still find a decent supply of semen on. In essence, please help me find some Angus bulls that will get me...

Best Market steer you ever saw

Dick Meyer won the Ia. state fair back in the 80's with a red baldy Simmx limi that is forever etched in my mind. Best one of late is the char that Bob May won the Royal with a couple of years back. He was a Friction. I really liked him.

    Amen and Simple Math

Shaggy, I would surmise from your post that you haven't been to a sale barn lately. And I'm not talking about a show cattle sale. The barns around here are tough on the small framed show types, although I won't argue that many cows in use today are too large framed. I guess what I'm saying is...

    Sydgen CC&7 or R/M Ironstone

i may be too critical, but I hace seen several CC&7 calves that I thought were too straight on their rear pasterns.Just my observation for what it is worth.

    Bull Choice

I like Ali in some situations. Good calving ease, good soundness, and the daughters that we have are good milkers as well as good mothers. JMO

    Steer Opinions

I like your steer, and it looks as though you are doing fine feeding him. My comment would be that if he is a little straight, don't trim much off his rear toes. Short toes and straight legs don't work well together in my opinion. Best of luck, you have done well so far.

    good calves for sale

BAP was right on about Jorgensen, we stopped and looked. Saw a couple great heifers, but the really great steer wasn't there. Good steers for sure, just not that great one. Just one old man's opinion, take it only for what it is worth.

Glen Beck scares me, but he usually finds facts to back up his ranting. He sure seems to shake things up.

    Dead Calves

There are times when a calf is born rear legs first, and when the process takes too long, the calf suffocates, and you find a dead calf. This is just one of several possibilities.
