    Mineral Program

You aren't making a fair comparison.  Based on your math you would have to assume that each and every ingredient in the mineral cost the same and that is not the case.  As a whole the mineral cost .60 a pound but if you took the salt out of the mineral you wouldn't expect that the price would...

    E-blasts

I am like a lot of others, I just delete most of them, seems like I get far too many.  If it's a breed or a breeder that I am interested in I will take a look. Justintime, In answer to your question, I wonder if it would help if you allowed people to be more specific about which breeds and...

Hauling Cattle in a Horse Trailer

I currently have a 20 foot stock combo trailer that I am use to haul to both cattle and horse shows, it has a 16 foot livestock compartment and a 4 foot tack room.  It has served me well for several years but as we start to spend more time a horse shows I an seriosuly considering buying a horse...

stolen blowers and cart from the ohio beef expo

Not to get too far of topic but how does everyone mark their stuff to insure that if someone takes it you can get it back or so that it's obvious they shouldn't take it?  I use a dremel tool to engrave most everything, brushes, combs, cans...everyone laughs because I have everything engraved. ...

stolen blowers and cart from the ohio beef expo

Unfortunatly I think you can be pretty certain that it was someone showing cattle.  I doubt anyone that doesn't show cattle would know what a blower is or that two of them on a cart are quite valuable. Mike

Life Expectancy of a Beef Cow?

I am working on putting togeather a cash flow for some cows and trying to decide what a fair number to use for average life expectancy of a cow (useful life).  Do any of the breeed associations track this number?  Anyone ever seen any numbers in regards to this?  I am thinking about using 10...

What are everone's opinions on this?

One other thing to add.  If I asked my kids what they were looking forward to at the fair this year I seriously doubt either would mention walking in the show ring.  They would talk about the 4H float in the parade, running around the midway, letting their friends from school that don't show...

What are everone's opinions on this?

I understand what you are saying but I don't know how you could ever put a cap on it.  We paid $2500 for the heifer that my daughter showed last year, she will make a great cow and was an average show heifer.  We have some people in our county that pay 5 times that for show cattle, that is fine...

    Pinewood Derby time! N/C

Funny to see this topic this morning.  I was talking to a friend of mine this week about the Pinewood Derby and he said people sell finished cars on eBay and sure enough I took a look and there is a car listed at $225 and lots of cars for over $100  :-\

    Laube Clippers

We have some Laube Speed clippers that we use for clipping our show horses.  They are quiet and light weight but I doubt they would stand up to any serious clipping. Mike

    AIR'ing

I don't know if it shortens the life span or hurts semen production but air obviously isn't heritable so anyone airing bulls runs the risk of having a whole bunch of calves that don't match his phenotype. Mike

+1.....if that includes labor and material I don't know how you could do it yourself for much less..

Drenching would be a squirt of water to the back of the throat, like you would do with a liquid wormer, as opposed to pumping which would actually be a hose down the throat.

    Lookin for "HessY"

Wow...there's a name from the past.  I actually thought of his name a few days ago when there was a thread in which people we talking about the old days and when you were good people knew you were good.  I recall him making something like ProStyle 2000 that people would carry around in anything...
