Need advice on a baby calf

I've got a week old calf that can't fully straighten his front legs. He gets up and down and moves around and nurses fine, just is bucked over at the knees. Is there anything I can do to help him straighten his legs or do I just have to wait and see if he gets better. If anyone has had this...

    Starting a new steer project

He's a walks alone x heat wave cow. About as inbred as you can get. Prolly why he was cut. Also is a tick small framed. Will never be more than a light weight.

    Starting a new steer project

Picked up this steer from Tony Austin in Weatherford, Tx today. If you need a calf in that area, I'd suggest you go see him. Great guy.

    NWSS Steer Show Info

Yeah, I understand that. I'm trying to get an idea how much the placing steers sell for, so I can get an idea of what I can pay for a steer to take there. I also want to know how many make the sale so as to get an idea of what my chances might be.

    NWSS Steer Show Info

My kids are interested in showing a steer in Denver next year. I'm trying to do some research and am having trouble finding info. Can anyone tell me where to find historical weight breaks? Also , what percentage of the steers make the sale? I found what the champion and reserve steer sold for...

    feeding show heifer

Based on your picture, I'd say your heifer is not too green. If your goal is to have a productive breeding animal, please do not feed a finishing ration. A breeding animal should never be fed a finishing ration. They will deposit fat around their ovaries and in their udder, becoming a hard...

    Mutation in wild elephant

It really shouldn't be a surprise that the smaller animal had an advantage. It's all about leverage. I had a jersey gomer bull that was outweighed by 800 to 1000 pounds by my Brangus herd sires. The Brangus bulls knew not to mess with the jersey because he would whip them every time.

    Photo Manipulation

Geez. Didn't mean to cause such a debate. I just honestly didn't know what the point of changing the angle was. I would never buy cattle off of pictures or videos alone, without seeing them in person or on the advice of someone who I trust that has seen him.

    Photo Manipulation

Why are all the fences in the background of photos of cattle all running uphill? What's the point of altering the image to look this way? Anyone have any before and after photos they can post to show the difference?

    Looking for new steers

We have been lookin for a couple of new show steers for our fall county show. This has to be the absolute most frustrating search I have been a part of. I'm just not finding anything that I like, and when I do, it's priced so ridiculously that I'm suprised anyone would buy it. I had a guy tell...

    New Steer Project

The first one used to be fatter like the second one. When we put him on feed he started growing frame. He is really really green right now.

    New Steer Project

So my daughters turned 8 years old this year and can show their first steer. I brought these two up out of the pasture for them. Let me know what you think. Please excuse the rough clip job as I am only used to slicking them. These are the first haired calves I've clipped.

    Thoughts on this calf

Thanks tallcool. Those are my thoughts exactly. Just wanting to make sure I'm not way off base. The video I have of him is in shorter grass, but the file is too big to post. We are buying steers for my two older boys, but sheesh, the price of good steers in this market is scary. Our county only...

    Thoughts on this calf

I tried to post a video, but can't get it to load. He's just a sale barn calf I found in the pasture of some of my stocker calves. It's my girls' first year showing. Rather than spend big money on a show steer, I thought I could try to sneak this calf in the sale at our county fair. What do...

    Femininity Heifer Supplement

It drains the heifer owner's pocket book. I prefer to just pick out a feminine heifer, feed her carefully so as to avoid giving her a heavy brisket.

    YOUNG , WILD, FREE BULL?

I bred him to a handful of Brangus cows back in the spring. Won't have any calves for another 60 days. Looking forward to them hitting the ground though.

    Opinion on this calf

It's the rear shoulder I'd be worried about.  (lol)

    cold weather washing and rinsing

We rinse twice a day, no matter the weather, unless it's cold enough that we have to drain the water. Only time I really felt guilty about that was one time last year when ice cicles formed while we are rinsing. We are in Texas, so we generally don't have to worry too much about that.
