I've got a week old calf that can't fully straighten his front legs. He gets up and down and moves around and nurses fine, just is bucked over at the knees. Is there anything I can do to help him straighten his legs or do I just have to wait and see if he gets better. If anyone has had this...

It really shouldn't be a surprise that the smaller animal had an advantage. It's all about leverage. I had a jersey gomer bull that was outweighed by 800 to 1000 pounds by my Brangus herd sires. The Brangus bulls knew not to mess with the jersey because he would whip them every time.

It drains the heifer owner's pocket book. I prefer to just pick out a feminine heifer, feed her carefully so as to avoid giving her a heavy brisket.

I bred him to a handful of Brangus cows back in the spring. Won't have any calves for another 60 days. Looking forward to them hitting the ground though.

We rinse twice a day, no matter the weather, unless it's cold enough that we have to drain the water. Only time I really felt guilty about that was one time last year when ice cicles formed while we are rinsing. We are in Texas, so we generally don't have to worry too much about that.
