    what is your worst mating?

Many thanks to those of you who have replied to this thread. If we had to depend on the bull promoters foe honest answers, we would only get the truth by experiment. I find the reply about Stands Alone to be interesting. He must get the monkey mouth gene from his dam, because his half brother...

    Eye Candy Semen $50?

I'll agree that in some cases, that 50 dollars isn't a big deal. But I can also think of several instances where 50$ has killed the deal. One such instance happened with the Maine bull Premium Blend. He started at 50 and no one used him. He is now down to 25, where he should have started, and...

    Is it possible?

Are you guys saying that the white or bald face is a recessive trait?

    Is it possible?

I have a question for all you genetic gurus out there. We have a solid black (no white in face) first calf heifer. She is an Aftershock daughter, mated to a purebred angus bull. Her calf is a black baldy. What's up with that?

    Question about Dirty Hair calves

For what it"s worth, I had a good cattleman tell me that Strictly Buisness is the start of many structure problems. I am not bad mouthing SB, because I have seen a lot of good ones that trace back to him. However I have also seen many cripples from that line. Dirty Hairy is out of a SB cow. Just...

    Bodacious Birth Weights

A friend had a bull calf, out of a mature cow. Very large, but unassisted. Huge bone. I could see him causing some problems.

    calf breaking donkeys

I am not trying to be a smart ass, pardon the pun, but I have raised donkeys and dealt in them for more than 30 years. All so called donkeys are members of the ass family. In other words, they are all the same species. They come in 3 classes according to height. 36 inches and under are considered...

using a donkey to halter break

If the donkey is experienced, no bovine is too large. Some may be just too crazy to break.

    "easy doing" maine genetics?

We are expecting a few calves by Predator this spring. I have hopes that he may be the bull that adds that trait to his offspring.

    Ohio Senator??

Saw him at Expo yesterday. Looked like most of the right pieces in a small package. Will need to be used on some large framed cows.

    hard whiskey

I stopped at Hawkeye a couple of days ago, mainly to see Hard whiskey. He does not appear to have any major soundness issues. In other words, he travels well. He isn't what I would consider too straight, and has good flex to his pasterns. He is thick and level topped as you would expect a good...

    JF Foundation

Has anyone out there used or seen calves from this half blood Simmy? I have only seen a couple, but I liked them, and I see that his semen is available again. Is he a bull that I should consider for commercial use?

Any calves this year from I-80? I haven't heard much about him so far

Stopped at Hawkeye last week. Saw I-80 as well as several others.  In my mind I was impressed with I-80, I liked him a lot more than Mercedes Benz, who was also there. As a calf I thought he was on the small side, but he has matured into a very usefull sized bull. Simply put, I liked him.

    N-Charge / Flush?

There are actually 3 bulls involved in this story. Tycoon, N-Charge, and the unpromoted bull Shadow. There is no proof to the story, but 2 full sister cows are involved. One cow produced Tycoon, and her full sister produced N-Charge and Shadow. There seem to be problems with who owned, and who...

Thanks again guys, I stand corrected on the Brown Swiss thing. There is or was no Angus influence in the breed. Earl

    KSU closed linebred Shorthorns

Thank you, It was Hays Converter. But I thought  Angus was used instead of Brown Swiss, because they were black cattle with white faces. I  don't recall any with the Brown Swiss ring nose. Thanks again
