I have a question for all you genetic gurus out there. We have a solid black (no white in face) first calf heifer. She is an Aftershock daughter, mated to a purebred angus bull. Her calf is a black baldy. What's up with that?

Wow...consider yourself extremely lucky!  The guys breeding for baldies, and getting black calves, are really going to hate you...   ;D

Are you guys saying that the white or bald face is a recessive trait?

no it's dominant.  it's a bear to breed off a white face if that's your intention.

the chances of you getting that should be slim to none-- but in your case apparently it bred on...  does your heifer have any other white on her?
