    How long on overdue cow??..UPDATED

10 days is my rule of thumb.  Mostly had problems with et bull calves taking longer.

    old angus semen

The Scotch Caps can be rambunctious and milk was an issue. They could get big, but normally made good feeders that grew.  The Leachman bull, I'm not sure. He shows up in some of the better show cattle pedigrees.  I believe ABS listed him about 20 years ago.  GCC Broker still has a place, but...

    Feeding Steers Soybeans

Here is a little tutorial I found on the web. http://msucares.com/livestock/beef/soybeans_cattle.pdf

    angus bull to breed to

I agree with the Dark Horse comments.  Consider Dameron First Impression. His dam is well proven.

    Feeding Steers Soybeans

Raw beans have trypsin inhibiting enzyme which will interfere with protein digestion in ruminants.  Extruded beans feed well, contain oil and the extrusion process inactivates the bad enzymes.  Feed extruded beans when you need both energy and protein.  Used commonly in dairy cow diets. Roasting...

Bacteria in silage and newborn calf death

New born calves, for the lack of a better term, have leaky guts.  This is by design to allow immunoglobulins from colostrum to enter the blood and provide passive immunity.  The gut will not seal completely for several days.  It is possible that the young calves chewed a bit of silage and the...

    THIS IS TO MUCH ----

Our future has been foretold in the movie Idiocracy.  Rather than an implant, everyone is tattooed with a bar code.  If you don't have a tattoo then you're unscannable. Not a great movie and definitely not for children, but very telling. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Would either of these bulls work on Ohlde cows

Would either Jimmy the Greek or Paddy O'Malley work on Ohlde bred PB Angus cows to produce decent steers or heifers? Is one better than the other? Neither recommended?

Clubby Bull for Black Angus Heifers ?

The heifer has enough to learn trying to raise a calf besides recovering from dystocia or worse. Do yourself a favor and use a proven calving ease Angus bull for the first calf. Its a hard lesson if it goes bad.

    Will this feed recipe work?

The amount of bean meal concerns me.  Not as an ingredient, but from a palatability standpoint.  The molasses will help, but I have had rejection issues due to bean meal.  You might want to off set the amount with some ddg.

    Limestone Darkhorse

+1 for Mccannfarms.  I saw him at Nichols and I agree.  As for PB cows, I would use him on power cows with great CE that need prettied up.

    Cost of recips

My ET vet charges the client $2300 for a 60 day pregnancy.  Client supplies embryo and pays implant fees.  He will market reproductively sound, open cows as recipients and pays the seller the $2300.  This is a great way to market the decent but "just a cow" cows.

Hannibal, but I would use A&B Yukon 7150.

Brillance, Bismark, Unbelievable or First Impession

All are good and very very similar pedigree wise.  I would go with First Impression since his dam produced two Denver champions within three years sired by two completely different bulls.

    OCC Rear End

This picture was taken 05/31/2012 at Hawkeye Breeders in Adel in the South barn.  Reminded me a lot of my OCC Just Right son with a little more bone.  Moderate, lots of rib, heavy muscled rear, but not much hip, fairly decent front.  He sure looked like he would make females.
