    Beet pulp/pump?

I'm still guessing a tick green but, I could be wrong.  A picture would help.  A grower ration on a heifer that age at 16lbs a day still wouldn't be hot enough unless she is a very easy keeper.  Fat can be a relative term...depends who is describing the calf

    Beet pulp/pump?

A picture would help but I'm guessing you just have a very green heifer and fill is not your problem.  That is why your heifer's hips are sticking out.  3lbs of a developer ration and 7 lbs of beet pulp won't cut it.  How big is your heifer?  A lot of 1000lb show heifers will eat a solid 20 lbs...

    Commercial focused Maine genetics

I will second those suggestions.  Nagels brother runs a feedlot as well and feeds a lot of Maine influenced cattle.  I think there was an article on him not too long ago in the commercial paper the Maine association puts out. Dave Stout and DeJongs in SD also have commercial influenced bull sales.

    Limousin January Heifer

Being bred early helps and a lot of feed.  She could use a little more condition by July for a show heifer too.  Protein is probably good just up the volume, fat and energy of the feed.  We use beet pulp or winning fill (kind of expensive) to increase volume of the feed.

    hard whiskey

A lot of questions about Hard Whiskey.....Anybody have any calves coming this year?  Anybody plan on using him this year now that his semen is readily available?  What kind of cows are you using him on?  Do you think his time has come and gone already with his semen being basically unavailable...

    Limousin January Heifer

Overall nice calf, good enough fronted, good thickness, level top.  Could use some more rib and leveling up from hooks to pins like a lot of limis.  What is the pedigree?

Question about newborns in this cold weather

Once mamma has licked them off duct tape their ears back onto their neck, after a day or two take of the tape, their circulation should be good enough to keep them warm by then.  I think if the cow would quit licking them once they are dry they would be fine but the constant licking seems to...

Specialization in Livestock Collections - Putting integrety back in the business

Interesting stuff, I was just making light of how you get blood out of a turnip, nothing personal.  I'm not the Tyler you are looking for so no need for the call. <beer>

    New definition for Clubby bred

Agreed, but we are talking about sale barn prices.  If you are an order buyer that is buying five weight calves to put in your customer's feedlot you buy what they want.

    New definition for Clubby bred

I've noticed here in South Dakota the roan colored or hereford marked calves usually $10/cwt below the average.  Top of the market is always solid black or solid red marked calves.  I've even noticed the smoke colored ones losing popularity with buyers.  The big club calf producers in the area...

    green valley sale results

I bought two on the sale and paid close attention to this, I think the sale pens were a little small for heifers used to a lot of room and by the looks of it they were just put in the pens that morning.  I got my two home and mingled them with my other heifers and there is no problem.

    trying to start a herd

Breed the limis to Deuce or Windfall then breed those heifers to your clubby or crossbred bulls, high percentage heifers will yield you a more consistent calf crop

Bellar Cattle Company heifer selling now

There is a need for a clubby bull that is clean of genetic defects and with this heifers pedigree I think that in 3 years you will see a clean son in Denver.  That's what the new owners are shooting for if I was a betting man.
