Looks delicious, I can't tell if some of the flecks I see are glare from the lighting, but I would call that prime!  What was the breeding of that steer?  We had a show steer that went to the University after the fair one year.  He went prime and yielded 2.9 which made us pretty proud.

I always enjoy looking at the calf pics people post on here.  The calves ventured out of the jungle (we have had a really good year for grass) and I snapped a few pics with my cell phone.  I welcome all comments good, bad and ugly!

My family showed in a very tough county and out of the probably 12 years of eligibility that we had total for the state fair we maybe only won a trip half the years.  The years we did make it we always got purple ribbons, had some breed division champions and even made the auction a couple times...

That is pretty cool, one feature that I used to like that doesn't work on my computer is when you would put your cursor on a topic title the first sentence or so appears so you can decide if you want to read or not. Maybe it's just my computer or maybe you haven't got around to that one yet.

Blind love for a single breed is a dangerous thing.  I raise a few different breeds and some Angus cattle too, I can tell you from experience each breed brings good things to the table and they all have some things to work on too.

I use soy hulls to cheapen feed sometimes as well but I just checked today and here in central So. Dak. hulls are $240/ton and I figured corn to be $252.  Basically no difference for the feed value.  What are some prices you've paid lately for soy hulls?

I think breeding her to a clubby bull is counterproductive if you are wanting a heifer to keep.  By your description of your cattle I'm guessing they are pretty crossed up already and I think you should go with a proven maternally oriented purebred bull. Once you have the half blood heifer calf...

I think we should start with cuts that do not affect the private sector...like quit paying our congressmen/women The government would never do that though they want us to feel the cuts so we keep on thinking we need them
