Bagged Show feed - Your input appreciated

We mix our own ration and I would put it up against any bagged ration. The only difference is it's 1/2 the price. I have fed them all and they do work well but unless cost isn't a matter then that's the way I would go. We use a premier show calf pellet/supplement in the ration. This ration costs...

    Hair Help

Its getting too close to the show for a lot of hair growth without a cooler but melatonin works well and Sunglo Epic also works well. I would have been using these products 45 days ago. Epic should be fed 90 days pre show. JMO

    Home feed mixing

We use a base mix that the mill mixes and then at home we use a cement mixer to mix in any additives. I can mix around 150#'s at a time. I have seen small mills around that mix around 500-750#'s, but they are hard to come by. You could use a regular feed grinder/mixer if you have a tractor to...

    Creep feeding replacement heifers

We start them from the time we wean right through the show season, changing it along the way to each calves individual needs. We have had some show heifers milk great after their show life and we have had some pretty average. i would say a lot of it depends on genetics but the feed will...

    Creep feeding replacement heifers

I agree with BRB. I use a creep that is mostly oats. Some use straight oats. My creep consists of 1200#'s oats, 500# rolled corn, 75# molasses, and 225# 34.5% calf pellets. I would probably change that if i was just creep feeding steers.  I would also feed this based on cow BCS, pasture quality...
