Who makes a good feed mixer for making your own show feeds? I am looking to take our own grains and order in rumensin, fats, and other things. I am just looking to make the feeding of our own show cattle and possibly our show cattle customers feed.

I would like to do a ton (2000) pounds at a time. Would do less if possible. We have a bunch of barley we can use but the local mill does not have room for it/doesn't want it there.

The old mortar box style feed box works well a 3 x 4 box 1 foot deep will feed 10-12 head and the feed is fresh every day-- use one since 1964 and still think it is the way (clapping)

We use a base mix that the mill mixes and then at home we use a cement mixer to mix in any additives. I can mix around 150#'s at a time. I have seen small mills around that mix around 500-750#'s, but they are hard to come by. You could use a regular feed grinder/mixer if you have a tractor to run it. The cement mixer works very well.

I have a stationary upright electric mixer that holds about 1000#. I bought it used but I think I have seen new ones in maybe Nasco's catalog. RW

I use a cement mixer.  Buy a premix then add in things that I need.  Or if it is just for one animal I just use a 5 gallon bucket and my hands.  :)
