    ABS Simmentals

You may wonder why I am going to go here, but I am.  I graduated with a kid who was definitely NOT the smartest kid in the grade.  He was a year older than us all, yet spent his entire school life with a teachers assistant, or in the special education class.  He comes from a rather...

    ABS Simmentals

Sorry, it was R1Livestock with the smart comment.  Said "we can all go cruise around and find pictures of ideal udders".  Well...I did that because OH Breeder asked me to.

I don't see anything because her leg is in the way.  For the umpteenth time, a tight udder isn't necessarily a good udder.  Silly people..... ::) I know the picture is of her mother, but it proves nothing to me about what is or is not a good udder. I dont care if I hijacked this thread.  I don't...

    ABS Simmentals

I don't see much udder from those pictures, just a back leg in the way.  I'm not sure what kind of point you are trying to prove by posting pictures of your 12 year old cow anyways.  She is a good looking, thick, long, attractive cow, BTW, and seems to have a calf that mirrors her look.  In the...

    ABS Simmentals

I'm not judging her as a dairy animal.  I was using proper terms.  Tight bag doesn't mean much to me.  Neither does a swinging utter <rock>. Sorry for using real terminology guys. I have raised RA and RA cross cows for many years.  Around our place, there are not a lot of 12 year old cows that...

Opinions on County Steer..(The good & Bad)

He looks really good  (clapping).  I would not really change much.  Maybe lengthen out that hip, and stoughten his lower quarter up a bit, as he toes out a little.  Great color, adorable little girl, and nice looking steer!

    ABS Simmentals

I did read the "DETAILS".  Doesn't matter to me if they are engorged or not, a good udder keeps a good shape.  Now don't get all mad at me and ask me how many cows I have calved or own or whatever now.  I never claimed to have a cow with a perfect udder myself, at any point.  Just saw that you...

Need help choosing what pic to use for Sale Page on website.

I agree with Knabe (as usual ;)).  The 2nd photo is the best shown actually.  He actually shows some dimension.  He looks puny, and light muscled in the others.  Wrong angle and feet placement.

    ABS Simmentals

I realize his is not an ABS bull. I just figured I would suggest a good bull!  I have seen Club King myself, and don't see a problem with his front end at all.  He actually has quite a bit of extension.  What don't you like?  The second photo of him is taken a bit from the rear, which makes that...

    ABS Simmentals

Let me be realy honest. How many udders have you seen? For a first calf heifer that is an excellent udder. Small teats and tight bag firm. I have three generations of these females the oldest being over 12 and they all have nice tight udders and do not sag. Show me what you think an ideal udder...

Picture: Please give me your honest opinion of this Super Star....

Deadly good.  lol.  Tons of hair, probably has an awesome disposition, and seems fairly deep bodied :)

Check out my yearling Shorthorn Bull

Awesoem calf.  Gotta love that butt!  This is getting me excited, as I have some Salutes coming any day now, and then want to breed my cows to Pioneer this year :)

    Remmington Red Label ?

You will probably get calves in that 85lb + range.  They can be up to 110lbs, but you have to understand those are Canadian stats, and there were probably a lot of fleck cows bred to him.  His full (flush brother) Winchester, is more of a calving ease bull.  Just as good of a bull, and has even...

    calf keeps falling down

Im pretty sure its not because he is just stupid.  I am sure a lot of people can agree with me here as well.  Ive halter broke dozens of calves, and have never run across a "stupid" one.  If he is standing with all 4 feet planted, and you stand about 5 feet away, perpendicular to his shoulder...

    calf keeps falling down

pull to the SIDE.  pull until she gives her head.  then release.  pull again until she takes a little step sideways, then release.  You are probably pulling directly forward.  She obviously isnt ready for that, and doesnt understand how to "give" to the halter.

    Remmington Red Label ?

I think he would work good.  He is definately more moderate himself, but with adequate performance.  He certainly is not going to add legs under them.
  17. Bawndoh

    Remmington Red Label ?

He is real clean fronted for a Simmy.  As stated before, he has had many showring champs, and you know how much leather is allowed there!

    Remmington Red Label ?

I would say leggy would be the last way to describe them, but who knows, your bloodlines probably just didn't click.  There has been TONS of Red Label used in Canada, and people LOVE him.  Of coarse that is why people used so much ;). He breeds deep sided, thick, stout, solid working progeny. ...

Male sex semen for steer calves

Genex has actually built their own barn just for sorting bulls with sexed semen.  It is in Shawano, WI.  Not sure that the cost will come down any time soon, but I do know we (Genex) is striving to provide the people with the best customer service possible by doing this.  Refering to the sorting...
