    Which Is Best Simmi Bull?

I've only had a handful but I do like Built Right.  Had the first daughter calve about 10 days ago, and even if its only one I like him a little more now.  Used him on some tighter made chi cross cows, they all grew had enough look to them, thats why I used him more last year.  Sold two steers...

What is the Value of a herd sire.

If you sold all those trucks at auction I'm sure you'd see alot of difference in their "value".  I've owned the same truck for the last 10 years and in the same time I've owned 4 different bulls, the bulls have cost about the same amount as the initial investment on the truck.  The difference -...

    End of the world?

Close, it runs on a 12,000 year cycle.  The histories of the Maya also tell of previous "ends of the world".  Most cultures that have carried their oral histories back thousands of years also tell of previous world changing disasters.  Every civilization that has been smug enough to think that...

    Simple Man

Anyone have any calves coming from him?  Anyone seen him personally?  Kinda curious, like the pedigree for use on some Heat Seeker influence TH carriers a little something different besides the WMW lines.

    Jigsaw Progeny

Have a Jigsaw heifer coming with her first calf in about a month.  Only had one other one, only steer I couldn't sell last fall.  I always thought his strength would be the females,  the buzz on him died pretty quickly.

    Getting started

My opinion start with straight bred cows, especially if you are breeding clubby and have any intentions of keeping the females.  Even for making steers, the straight bred cows are just a little more predictable. I've kept the clubby pedigreed females and have discovered that for the most part...

    James H Leachman Please read

Sounds like everyone involved is playing the blame game and pointing the finger at someone else.  In the end the animals are suffering and no one wants to step up and accept any responsibility - pitiful.

    Ohlrichs Bull Sale

Top end last year was 7500, a few people I talked to were surprised it was that low.  Guess the year prior it was more than that.  There were alot of good bulls in that 3000 dollar range.  They were really good people to deal with as well.

    cost of embyos

Not sure it'll ever be cost comparative to AI.  I have wondered the same thing about the number of embryos on the market.  Even up here in Canada it seems there are more embryos on the market, they are purebred embryos though.  I learned the hard way that there is not much of a market on club...

    Mohnen Dynamite

Have seen lots of Dynamites.  Not all that impressed.  The feet and legs would be the one of the many concerns I have with them.  They are not the best footed cattle, small foot, shallow heeled and most are not as sound on the legs as I would like to see, like one friend commented on them - if...

    AGRIBITION STEER SHOW

Wow bunch of last minute entries, I was told 20 with 2 days left before entries closed.  Should make for a competitive show.

    AGRIBITION STEER SHOW

It was approved for a 3 year term.  It may or may not go after that depending on how it works out.  Something about being kind of a special attraction thing - to keep it from getting stale was mentioned as well.  Believe they had around 20 entries for this year.  Just be nice to see a fat steer...

Sale Catalogs - Straight off the press

I can kind of see the point with your third quote, have a cow that had that happen.  Raised two really good calves then had one hit by lightening, the next spring her calf drown in a slough.  If I was trying to sell her I might try and explain exactly what happened.  Put that way it sounds...

    Lutalayse

In my opinion yes, aborted 6 head a couple years back, had two doses of Estrumate and did the rest with Lute.  They were all 30-60 days the two that were Estrumated aborted the four that were Luted all had happy healthy babies a month after they were put out to pasture.  Take it for what its...

    Calgary Stampede Steer Show

Champion was a solid steer, maybe not exactly a "show steer" but solid none the less.  Reserve wouldn't have been my choice for reserve, again not a bad choice though.  Not nearly the political mess that has occurred the last couple years. I do get the feeling that this show is in trouble...
