Agree with you 100%.  We have the power to make the decisions and they should be for the better of the cattle.  We were put on this earth to be caretakers of the beast of the land.  CAREtakers. Jamie

    When?

Ya, I have seen that too.  It is really neat.  They just put the band at the base of the horn.  Wrap it in duct tape so it won't get rubbed off and in 30 days poof no horns.  LOL Jamie

stilllearning, Im from so IL. At the local salebarn the trader has went to trading cattle just to make ends meet with the horse business.  So you'd be very luck to get 500, but maybe 800 if its broke and that is pushing it. Jamie

    Peel or not to peel??

I would peel them the hair will definitly come back before your June show.  We clip ours tight 3 to 4 weeks before the show to get the crispy and brown ends off the hair.  I am sure you'll be fine. Jamie

    advice on breaking show steer

I would try everything everyone else has said, but if you have access to a mule or donkey hook them up.  Put a halter on the steer and a girt around the mules neck loose enough to where it can swivel on the mules neck.  Hook them together halter to neck with a strong rope that is about a foot...
