    Semen Tanks

Just bought an MXE ( not sure of the number) from a local dealer. He claims the spring deals aren't that good . Even though you only pay $470 for the tank, shipping and filling with nitrogen are eating up the difference. I believe the total for mine was $700 for tank, nitrogen, delivery and 1...

    PETA is at it again!!

The fact that I made the last post at 4:30 in the morning ( 3:30 my time) after checking the heifers in the calving pen, would really blow their mind. Come to think of it, I'm kind of wondering about myself!?!

    PETA is at it again!!

I understand both points of view mentioned before in this thread. We can all understand where both you guys are coming from. I don't believe that any animal rights groups opinions are based on any of the arguments that we can bring up and discuss on any forum. Our arguemen ts are based on either...

    PETA is at it again!!

My wife and I had a discussion awhile ago on what would happen if the economy collapsed. I told it had been a while since I've had to butcher, but I could do it. It's been awhile since I've done alot of things our ancesters way, but the memories will come back. But these people have never done...

    Cut the BS

Sometimes I don't agree with his opinions or his tactics, but I will say thanks for taking the time to voice them. It takes all kinds of information to make a correct decision. I will also stand up and join that long proud line of Americans that defend his right to voice that opinion. I believe...

    Conditioning/Growing hair

TSS has some great advice. If it's warm enough for short sleeves get those fans and misters going. I have a home brew that I use daily- 1 part showsheen ( I buy the concentrate at Farm & Home and add water) 1 part white vinegar and a couple ounces rag oil. I blow the dirt out, rinse the calf and...

    PETA is at it again!!

Maybe if the food stopped we could change their nickname from "treehuggers" to "grasshuggers" since thats what they'll be eating.

breeds getting carried away! after watching the expo

Great observation! My Ag teacher daughter just mentioned recently her class had been doing work on purebred's . She was horrified at the picture of a Chi bull in their book. But I can get Chi papers on myself if I wanted to! Just remember all it takes is a set of papers and a breeding certificate.

    Bottle Calf

We always had  a couple bottle calves around when the kids were small, alot of fun  but also a pain. Like previous threads said , wean as soon as he's eating starter. I've found the calves eat the cheaper starters better ( more mollasses maybe?). I like putting a small amount of Calf Manna...

    PETA is at it again!!

I remember reading somewhere the average PETA member is a 26 y.o. single female with an average income of 85k. I also read the average American is 3 generations off the farm. So with this in mind , imagine this persons thoughts on Ag issues. If you they can't  even raise a good tomato plant, how...

    PETA is at it again!!

My point is (sorry about the soapbox again) the PETA folks have their agenda down pat. They have enough members and dollars to make the politicians sit up and beg. They also have leadership that knows how to use their money and numbers to get their message out. This fight isn't about whether we...

    PETA is at it again!!

We can cuss and discuss the genetic issues of the AI question for days and never come to an agreement. But the issue of PETA and their cronies needs our undivided attention. Just like the woman hiring hitmen I  mentioned in a thread a few days ago, these people think they're doing God's work on...

    You will never beleive this!!

I didn't see any links. These stories are gleaned from a bunch of sources and put in email from FB in Bloomington IL. It's just Ag related stories,  in most cases, that don't make headlines.

    You will never beleive this!!

If Ag groups worked like the AR movement, we could put a contract out on her [or them as the case may be] . We could justify it as "thinning the herd" - which sounds like a good deal to me.

    You will never beleive this!!

I wonder how a lawyer can take this case and allow this woman to stand before a judge and jury and plead " not guilty". I don"t know any details , but surely the police have the witness etc. to make this a watertight case.

    You will never beleive this!!

Just read this on the Farm Bureau leaders email-- " An  Ohio woman who compared animal welfare work to the liberation of World War 2 concentration camps, has been charged with soliciting a hit man for $850 to fatally shoot or slit the throat of a random fur wearer, feds say."  I am sitting here...
