my local fair is switching from hair to slick sheared next year.  so what kind of steer should i be looking for?  does a certain color look better slick sheared?  any comments on this would be much appreciated!!!

so is it a commercial brangus?  why do you want to sell her?

I LOVE BRANGUS!!!!  Excellent heat tolerance like the brahma, but more meaty.  its about 100 degrees in my neck of the woods and the brangus cows dont look hot at all and they love to sun themselves, but the maine cows are all fighting for the shade spots.  never seen a bad milking brangus cow...

i think she is a descendent from the herd alex dees had while at canna ranna ranch... not sure though have to check her moms papers ???  she will be registered, and thats the only pic i have of her and its from a couple weeks ago so its pretty recent. 

she doesnt have any known sires or anything, just out of a first calf heifer and a bull that my family bred ourselves... i guess everythings for sale for the right price!!!  ummmm idk probably like twelve to thirteen hundred, depends upon how she keeps growing... we also have some really nice...

thanks for resizing the pic!!!  brangus are really different than the club calves and thats why im having such a problem figuring out what to do with her!  if you compare her against clubby stuff... she isnt that good, but maybe compared to other brangus she is good!! so anyone who sees alot of...

what does everyone think of this heifer???  do you think she is worth it to maybe send out to the mid west to show?  i dont know, she seems like a nice heifer to me but there isnt too many brangus cattle in california to compare her too.  any feedback would be great!  (sorry the pic is big...)

hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that the steer was butchered on friday and he had massive stones in his bladder and urinary tract... but the butcher said the meat looked okay.  and also i went to my towns field day today and i won showmanship!!!!  the steer did a complet showing turn...

thanks for clearing that up chambero!  my family too doesnt sell the downers or sick ones... just got a misscommunication or something :)  this is the first steer that had his feet trimmed out of my eight years of showing... and the funny thing is i was thinking about taking my expensive really...

the final diagnosis was either urolithiasis or he had an injury from the hoof trimming.  the first one is caused by too much calcium in the feed but it wouldnt affect the meat... and my family is going to eat it so if the meat isnt good it wont affect anyone except us.  and there isnt really any...

my dad just talked to a vet and he said that we could try and put the steer on all hay and sulpha boluses and it MIGHT get better but then i wouldnt be able to sell him for meat any time soon.  the other option is that he is butchered asap.  i chose to butcher him today.  that really sucks, he...

he hasnt gotten better or worse... still waiting for a vet to call us back.  i have someone lined up to do an iv because he hasnt been drinking anything for two days.  just waiting for the vet to call to make sure thats okay to do. thanks for all your help!

its okay... you always hope it isnt as bad as it seems.  hes seems like he is peeing a little bit better... trying to get hold of a vet but no luck yet.

do you think he can make it through the night?  its almost eight here and i dont know if i can get a hold of any vets...

we have some flies but they arent too bad yet... do you think spraying his belly with flyspray would help?  the funny thing is that i didnt take my really good steer to get his feet done because i didnt want anything like this to happen to him...  :-\

he isnt bloated or anything... and vets in southern california really only care and know about horses... could he die if he doesnt get treated?

my steer got his hooves trimmed on saturday and yesterday i noticed that he was really sore on his hind legs and he wasnt eating very well, but i thought that it was because he was just sore on his hooves from the trimming.  but tonight he has gotten really worse and hes kicking at his belly and...

my dad was the sifter at the imperial county fair!  its a small world!  were located in the eastern county of san diego... we sold some steers a couple weeks ago to some people in el centro for their fair.  im sorry it took so long to get pictures up of the heifer :)

oh thats great!  i will definetly have pics of her on saturday... shes a november heifer and ill find her mom and dads papers tomorrow for a pedigree... where are you located?
