    five day cidr trial

Yes, I time bred them 72 hours post CIDR removal.

    five day cidr trial

I used the five day and had excellent results from it (68% success on my SimAngus cows). I gave the lut shots 8 hours apart. I didn't notice many of my cows cycling before the time AI but that didn't stop them from getting pregnant.

    Simmy bull x comm angus

What's your goal with the resulting calves? I primarily use Sim bulls on commercial Angus cows.

    Preparing recipient cows for Embryos

I like at least 45 days pp. I give all my cows a mineral injection a month prior to breeding.

NLC Mr. Upgrade...breeding him to heifers?

Me personally, I wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, I really like Upgrade and used him myself but I see potential for his EPDs to still change quite a bit. It's very rare for a bull with his combo of decent CE and super high growth so I expect one or the other to shift with more progeny reported.

    some of our show heifers

Have fun at the Simmi junior events. I grew up in the program and those are the fondest memories I have. Great cattle and great kids!

    5-day vs 7-day Fixed TAI

I would. I've been successful with second calf heifers 30 days pp.

    Photoshop...hands down.

    5-day vs 7-day Fixed TAI

Used the 5 day and LOVED it! I liked the timing of the injections and TAI better and had much improved results. Well worth the extra shot of prostaglandin.

    5 day protocol

CAB is correct. FYI CAB - I preg checked and am very pleased with the 5 day and had higher conception to the first service AI. I had a few interesting observations. 1. the cows did not show much heat at all 12 hours before the AI 2. my younger cows didn't do as well on the 5 day as the...

    Simmental bulls

Upgrade, Dew It Right, In Dew Time, and Club King.

Going rate for synchronizing and ai'ing

For good family friends I charge cost of supplies, cost of semen and delivery and $18/hd AI fee.

    Simmy Bull Uno Mas

Me personally, I wouldn't be keen on using him on my Angus based cows. He has Dream On and Goldmine in his pedigree and both are not bulls I would use on Angus.

    In Dew Time Calf Pics

I love my In Dew Time females! My bulls by him are the first to sell too. In fact one of my In Dew Time first calf heifers raised my top heifer calf this year.

    Top Grade

If there are calves sired by him they are going to be very young. I sampled him in December and will have calves in September. I'm pretty sure a few others that post on this board are trying him out too. He doesn't come from a well known cow family but he is backed by 3 generations of cows with...

Great illustration to debunk "pink slime" fiasco

A friend posted this on facebook and I think so far it best illustrates the harmlessness of the lean, finely-textured beef. I encourage you to post it to your facebook profile too!

Re: Fat Butt gestation lengths (with pics!)

Be patient, the calf will come. My older cows go overdue almost 2 weeks sometimes.

What is your ear tagging method?

I just put the animal's ID on tags. Ex: W107 The letter represents the year they were born in accordance with the breed association and the number is what they were assigned for that year. I like to keep it simple. If you have a few cows that's all you may need on there if you have a good...

Thanks for the update. My first ones are coming in September. Also used his 3/4 son MCM Top Grade. Can't wait!
