    Holstein as a Recip?

be careful of Johne's disease in dairy cows.

    Recips

There's far less magic to recip cows than many believe.  You just need a cow that can retain a pregnancy, deliver a reasonable sized calf and milk well enough to allow the calf to express it's genetic potential.  Ideally, she'd hold her flesh well and cycle back to do it again next year.  You...

    Worth getting a donkey

If you have 2-3 calves for 2 years, don't bother. For those that have dozens of calves to break each year, they are a big labor saver.

    Walks Alone daughters

has anyone seen any Walks Alone daughters in production?  He's an '08 model which means the heifers from his first calf crop could have theoretically had their first calves this spring.  Wondering if they milk at all.

    The Smart Senasation Brush

I've been using mine since I bought it at state fair and have to say I'm fairly impressed.  Seems to work well even on the harder haired ones.  It's worth the cash in my opinion.  Durability still remains to be seen but so far so good.

    Cooling alternative?

I am definitely no expert on this, but I have always thought this would be a very good way to cool a barn.  I would think if you kept the air continually circulating, your temperature will slowly come down.  The first time through the tile may not cool the air all the way, but as it goes through...

    Cooling alternative?

any HVAC guy or engineer can figure out how long of a tile you need based off square footage of the barn and BTU output off the number of animals you intend to have in the barn and a few other factors.  It'd be worth consulting an HVAC or geothermal guy before you start laying tile.  Just my...

its ALL red, white, and roan under the hide!

doesn't matter if those two kill cows can "get out and move" or not.  After walking through the ring, they'll get on a truck and get off a truck, that's about it.  Sorry.
