    Monopoly Semen for Sale

well if the semen will bring that much at auction, then Monopoly will "officially die" tommorrow, you know we can't have a living bull in good health and producing a lot of semen for that high a price,  still be alive, thats just not right  ;)

Your thoughts on the Heatseeker Bull Calf

his thickness is impressive, but unless the pictures are misleading, he is waaay to short legged for me, maybe the angle of the shot is bad but for a mar calf he looks like either a pud or a lowline, i hope its just a bad pic angle his color marking are great and should make some pretty calves

    Need your opinion please

neck extension is nice, calf seems well balanced, but too straight in the rear legs for my tastes, will he be sound at 1300#, not sure but i'd be concerned good luck

Opinions on how to handle situation

I feel that it is well past time that people need to name names, we should be looking out for each other, not worrying about being PC and holding our tongues, as to the legal, issues  the best defense for libel and slander is the well documented truth. While this so called breeder probably has no...

    Black and White Sunseeker hiefer

Our experience with sunseekers has been great, i have been around several who were all big babies, especially our steer from this past year, who was so laid back that you practically had to push him into the show ring, good luck with your new heifer

    Salute

Just a few cents worth on our experiences with Salute, we used him on 5 cows and got 3 heifer calves and bought 1 more heifer by Salute at 8 mos old.  All of the calves have been good not great, very functional and have grown well.  All of the calves were 80 lbs or less at birth, so no calving...

    Heatseeker Semen

I think you should set a price on the whole lot, you know what you have to pay for the lot, Annouce your asking price first and then field offers, this would be much fairer to all instead of trying to play lets all guess how cheap he is getting the lot for.  From your post you want/need the tank...

Calf cant seem to get front leggs under him?

Due to hard pull, front legs are probably sore and possibly streched, I have taken a 2" pvc pipe about 12" long and split iinto halves for splints, then put 1-2 tube socks on each splint and use duct tape to tape these to the calves legs from knee to hoof.  this will help staighten the legs and...

    RED

I like many am just shocked at the news of Cathy's passing, I was at the OBE yesterday, stopped and talked to Juli and asked about Cathy, at that time no one knew, I enjoyed one of her cookies while talking to the Nelsons and then went on my way, never knowing the sad news to come. Our thoughts...

Justifying the cost of a bull?

I think that most commercial guys would prefer the uniformity that a good herd bull should provide, both in growth and in closing up the calving window, while as I am a purebred breeder I would not want to take a chance on all my calves being from one bull in case he is a dud, most purebred...

Justifying the cost of a bull?

Just my 2 cents worth here, besides the expense of a bull you might want to consider the costs of having one vs not. The potential costs of having a bull in my experience are as follows:  at least 1 new hay ring every year, updating your fences regularly to keep mr bull where he belongs, keeping...

Star Power - NOT CALVING EASE. story inside

I also believe that the cow has much more to do with the equation, for Zack's monster we can give you a 68# and 80# unassisted Star Power calves from average size 1st calf heifers.  I have also been told that the extremely cold winter this year will account for some of the larger birth weights...

If you were gonna start over?

I would start with as many meyer/angus brood cows I could afford and put the best shorty embyros in them, I have seen a lot of cows this past few years and as a group the meyer/angus cows seem to be the best in terms of milkyness, good temperment, and fleshing.  They would make great recip cows...

    Heritable Docility?.........AI Bulls Docility?

We have 3 Salute heifer that you have to push to get out of the way, and don't have something hanging out of your pocket or they will lick it away.  On the other hand we had a Heatwave steer last year that was not only nuts but mean as can be, he never made it to the show ring.  As to breed we...
