What are you trying to produce with this heifer? Club calves, show stock?
We had hoped to get al clubby that could eventually be shown etc, etc. But, if it is best to keep her with a angus then that is what we'll do. As others have said, here in Florida we have smaller animals than in...
she placed 4 or 5th in her class of 12. he won 3rd for showmanship. judge said she needed to be a little heavier in the front.
yes, I can get him another heifer. She will not be sold.
well first thing first.. NO HEATWAVE for us. THANK YOU.. I certainly dont want her to die or get hurt trying to calve. I will get some pics of her and post them tonight or in the a.m.
we gave her a little more feed lastnight and this morning , along with hay. Should I get her appetite express...
Yes, this is a real post. I only thought of heatwave because, I see his name here so much. I thought she was good enough to be bred at this time. Obviously she isnt. I certainly dont want to do anything that would cause her or a baby calf any harm.
no it isnt a typo. she is 775 @ 16 mos. 10/07. Wow, I have obviously not been feeding her enough. I dont think she is small weight because she wont eat. We feed her about 15 #'s of grain per day.
and only give her hay occasionaly. ( I was told in the begininng, hay was a treat) BUT, I also...
We have a heiffer that we originally bought as a "project"for our upcoming show. She is 16 mos old. She is limi x angus, 775 #'s.
I have thought maybe it would be better to AI her w/ hetwave ? or ???? . Thinking of keeping her and making her the start of our herd. she is not registered or...
why are you putting all of the additional stuff ? are they not gaining enough weight ?
aew these market hogs ?
how much weight are they gaining per day ? how much do they need to weigh etc?
I am no pig expert but, that seems to be alot of expense for market hogs.
oh thank you all so much !!
so far I have removed the pallet, gave him another dose of pennicillan, started giving him syringes of gatorade and he got up and went to the bucket and actually started drinking it. I also got some pediaalite and done the same thing gave him about 1.5 cups of that...
will try the pedialite.. I do not hve a lamp on him. It has been really hot here ( FL) I also put a big wooden pallet in his pen to keep him off the ground.
We're all just scratching our heads ??
and yes, I had wormed him. I have just never seen a hog get this sick, and stay sick.... usually a...
Ok.. I bought a market hog about 6 weeks ago. He has been sick with scours off and on for about 3 weeks.
I treated him with aeromicin (?sp) scour meds, that you put on bread.
had the vet come last Friday and give a shot of lincomax- still not much improvement. still has the scours and eating...
This steer is a market steer. While he will go to a couple of shows, it's just for the experience of getting into the ring.I should have c arified that in the beginning. Next year we are hoping to "upgrade" but, since this is his (our) first time, this is the choice we made. thank you all...
