What I usually do when I have a calf around that is kinda jumpy, is just get it haltered up and comb it with a curry comb for a while. The steer will get more used to you! And maybe you'll find the calfs sweet spot and then he might start to think that its not so bad! That usually seems to work...

I would also suggest getting the red or black plastic sullivans stimulator comb because it is the perfect comb to use for an everyday comb. The stimulator comb is gentle on the calfs scalp rather than a metal scotch comb. I usually use metal scotch combs for fitting at shows and plastic...

This calf has a nice over all appearenc!  :)  in your first picture it looks like he could use some more depth. I do think he is to straight in his front legs.

My favorite moment is when  you bring the heifers home after the long week at the fair and let them out in the pasture!! They get frisky!!  <party> Also its a good feeling when all of your hard work pays off  ;D

Nice steer  :)  I do agree though,  that he needs to be deeper in his flank.
