    Cattle App for Ipad

I would say CattleMax Online would work if your IPAD has internet access while at the pasture. It is cloud based so data is stored online so you could access it at either as long as connected to internet.

using heifers for calving ease angus recips

Does anyone see a problem with using heifers for recips if the eggs are calving ease pb angus embryos? I have a couple angus cows that need more heifers out of and was looking to get more recips this way since I breed the heifers angus anyway.

    Getting Aluminum Trailer REALLY Clean

Short of taking the trailer to get Acid washed, what do you use to get your aluminum trailer to shine like new again?

    animal science universities

Iowa State would be a good choice. Having a USDA center right there doesn't hurt. Oklahoma State in Stillwater seemed good when I was there for judging. Nice facilities and area. If you are thinking research you could stay in state and go to Madison but they are not production oriented.

    Slicking out sale calves

Has anyone here tried slick shearing their sale calves late spring in hopes of them having a better haircoat come September/October. I had several calves hold their hair late into summer and then shed out the month before sale time. Would it be worth a try to get them shed out early/slick shear...

    Monopoly and Monopoly 2

I flushed a char cow Monopoly 2 two weeks ago and got 15 grade 1s. Last year she gave 16 out of Monopoly. Just regular not called up for flush stuff. Works here. Also with flushing you need a shot of luck since sometimes it just doesn't work. Tried to flush 5 cows two weeks ago, one didn't come...

    Which clone works best

I have 10 flush mates on the ground out of a club calf bull and purebred Charolais cow. If you saw the variation between those 10 calves you would not try to pick apart clones when full sib flush mates can vary so much. It comes down to luck and whatever combination of genes you get. I know of...

    Pickups

I might not haul as much as the rest of you but love my 09 Chevy with the Duramax. I love the Allison transmission, makes it possible for others to drive (stupid proof). It gets about 18 highway empty and 12 loaded with trailer.

    New pasture seeding, variety suggestions?

I have heard good things about meadow fescue grass. It can yield almost as much as tall fescue but is much more palatable during the growing season than tall fescue. It is supposed to be a better choice for western Wisconsin where I am from. We are seeding down for a rotational grazing setup...

This year we are open to all states last year we weren't due to the TB status of MN and not wanting to deal with that our first year. Silage Users

Just be careful on how much you pay because you could lose a decent percentage of energy with it even getting a little hot from moving. I could be wrong but you could lose say 10% in a week. Anyone got a better estimate?

    Calving pen Bedding

What do you use for bedding where you help pull calves? We have been using cornstalks but they are not very absorbent with all the fluids. We do have a source of sawdust that we could use that is mostly from hardwood. I did here though one local dairy farm that was using sawdust in there calving...

    tm gus

I would not say heifer safe since out of four heifers bred to him last year we only saved one calf. All over 100 lbs. The one we saved was good though.
