I have 10 flush mates on the ground out of a club calf bull and purebred Charolais cow. If you saw the variation between those 10 calves you would not try to pick apart clones when full sib flush mates can vary so much. It comes down to luck and whatever combination of genes you get. I know of several people that flush there BEST cows to the original and AI their AVERAGE cows to clones and then say that original calves are better. No wonder the original calves are better when the cow is half of the equation, or more if you consider her milk and mothering ability. This is why the original is higher priced due to supply and demand of those that flush original and breed clone. As far as the little bit of DNA from the host embryo or whatever, if the bull is 99% the same I think it isn't worth 10 times as much for original when the cow can screw up 50%.
