    benefits of fitting

First know your limits. Personally I know I'm not good enough to fit or clip at a big show . Our last show was the first of December and I hired a fitter . Our next show isn't until march so in between I can practice a little and follow their lines . But I also know it takes at least 30 days to...

    Showmanship-class deal breakers

Unfortunately life isn't fair and neither is showing cattle. We were there and showed in showmanship Friday night. I'm not saying my child should've won his class or shouldn't have won his class there were several good showmen in the ring . However my kid was one of the few in the ring that...

We have a hereford heifer we will be showing in a month and my question is should I wait till right before the show and just clip her front end and blend it In with the rest if her body or take a pair of flat heads and shave down her from end and let it grow back and then shape it ? Line Breeding or Inbreeding

I agree with XBar . It will either be a great success or a train wreck. We had a cow we bred in a similar instance and it worked very well got a double shot of all the good with very few bad qualities accentuated . But you always have to be prepared for a disaster .

Are you talking about Hoosier Beef Congress? If so go for it the more experience the better. They will show by age of the child and breed. Feeding show heifers

We feed wet beet pulp mixed in with our regular feed. We have tried depth charge and couldnt tell any difference in our calves. Maybe it was just our calves ? In the barn and going back and forth to the wash room she was fine but the minute you took her out the barn door her head...

    County Beef Club

There have been several kids in our county that have showed interest in having a beef club . I have been asked by our county extension educator if I would help get it started. So, that being said I have some questions to bounce off of everyone here and get their feedback and input. I'm thinking...
