MCF Lot 300 bull, MCF Double Up.  Anybody know who bought him?  I know he brought 6500 but would like to know where he went, maybe get some semen on him.  Love the HooDoo stuff and he is linebred that way.  Thanks

I don't personally know the bull, but that looks like a power genetics freeze brand on him.  Is he a pg bull?

NAILE Open Shorthorn Show - a couple interesting facts.

(lol)Gary, the difference is, your cows are not huge, they do not require silage.  It does make sense to feed silage if it is indeed cheaper.  However I know for a fact that on a dry matter basis, the cost comparison on silage vs. hay is a lot closer than what youre publishing.  I also disagree...

NAILE Open Shorthorn Show - a couple interesting facts.

I agree 100%!  This really is what needs to happen, but I dont think it ever will.  There are far too many big name boys that would throw a fit and go broke if their humongous silage eatin cattle were not the "in thing" anymore and quite frankly, with collegiate judging being coached the way it...

    Opinions on American Heifer

Really, really nice heifer!  I love the depth and broody appearance.  She has more flank than most americans and a super front end on her, I think you may have a very special individual here, maybe one you could mate to an american clubby type bull and really have a humdinger calf.  Good job...

NAILE Open Shorthorn Show - a couple interesting facts.

9K isn't going to commercial cattleman either as most commercial guys I know won't pay more than $3500 for a bull, registered or not.  Also, I agree that until there is no discount at the salebarn for anything but black, shorthorns will not be a commercial cattlemans go to breed, even though...

    Calf crop?

Had a couple of Texas Twisters born here last spring.  Really nice steers, maybe not as much muscle as I expected from a Heatwave x Char but not too disappointed.

    Grazing

Absolutely there is reason to worry.  I graze my cows on cornstalks and have lost cows from eating too much corn (acidosis).  I have 3 tips that might help you manage the abundance of grain in the field.  First, make sure your cows have had a C+D Clostridial (over-eating) shot.  Fill your cows...

Just a bull calf , to keep or not to keep ???

I dont know what his birthweight was but if its not too high i would think you could sell a black bull with that kind of performance.  He doesnt wow me with muscle expression but he should add some payweight to a set of calves.

New stud simmental bull from Gibbs Farms

Did anybody go to the Gibbs Farms sale recently?  I saw that select sires bought Lot 134.  I checked out the catalog and see he is a Upgrade son.  I really like him!  If anyone went, what did this 134 bull bring?  As well as prices on the other purebred simmi bulls.                             ...

    Focus on the Female

Who doesnt keep their best ones?? I have been watching Yardley's program for a few years now and am really intrigued with the depth of quality in their catalogs.  It appears the cattle are presented in modest condition and are as honest as the day is long.  Their cows truly work and I love...
