    his breeder is breeding his mother and a bunch of other cows to the sire, because both my steer and his half brother were so nice. also he was a natural bred calf, the breeder owns the bull. So there will be alot more like him this spring!

    So responding to everyone's comments, he is pretty big framed and big boned compared to alot of the other steers going to my fair.     She is a show heifer.I dont know if they have this in other states, but in California in a couple counties have a show for Replacement heifers at the county fair. kids get heifers, they send them to be bred in December-February, then then show them when they are ideally 6-8 months pregnant...

    She is a May 2011, shorthorn dam and angus sire. She about 2-3 months bred, and has been on pasture for the past 6 months.

    Hair growth help!!!!

    Ya hair genes play a big part. some times if you brush wash and blow enough, you can get hair, but genes are the real factor. Unfortunately angus heifers of no special breeding almost never have hair.

    well ive heard alot of people say color like that is distracting, but personally i think it catches the judge's attention and keeps it on your animal. so yes i would use him as a bull.

    Ok ya I take the high flanked thing back. I didnt look too good at the picture the first time. sorry. I think it was the way she was standing the first time i looked at the picture. Idk what i was thinking when i wrote that haha. i looked again and she is actually deep flanked.
