    Cattle Visions TAI Calculator

What size needle do you suggest?  And do you sanitize the new CIDR's or just one's previously used?  Don't see the need to sanitize new ones.

    Expiration Dates

The bottles have never left the house.  With only one or two calves to process per day, if any, we just draw the desired dose in a syringe and take that to the barn.  I also agree with the low cost, why worry, just buy new.  Is there much difference in using B-Complex or B-12?  One, can't...

    Expiration Dates

Checking things needed when calving starts in a couple weeks.  Have Vit A-D and Vit-B-12 injectable with expired dates.  A-D expired in 2013.  B-12 was 2015.  Discard and buy new or could they still be safe and potent?

    Sexed Heifer Semen Bulls

Narrowed my choices to Uno Mas and First N Goal (Angus) both sexed semen available.  Which will add a little frame, improve shoulder (or at least not make it worse), add some hair, and most marketable to sell as replacement show females?

    Sexed Heifer Semen Bulls

Thinking of flushing a cow before she gets too old and increase her progeny numbers.  Looking for heifers, obviously, and wondered what might be available. Cow is a 4X4, moderate to small frame, clean neck, deep and broody. Needs little more bone, smoother shoulder and more hair would be nice...

    Who Won Reserve Shorthorn Plus

Yeah, I was waiting to hear, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, it was my mistake, it's right here on the card.  The reserve champion is.....".  I guess whoever got to take the banner home is the real winner.  My concern with this is I'm acquainted with the Ward family and folks that work with them and I...

    Who Won Reserve Shorthorn Plus

I need to find out if I missed something.  Was watching the Denver Open Shorthorn Plus show today.  Kane Aegeter had Grand Heifer.  After he pulled out the Res. Division to him took his spot in the line up (Ward from Ohio with blue roan).  The judge didn't take much more time and selected, I...

    Blower hoses

We had the same problem 2 years ago.  Hardly used it.  Was told the same thing, bad batch, and they replaced it.  Problem is, when you need them, you really need them.  Putting a smaller size hose on the end to make it easier to handle can aggravate the problem.

    Adding Kelp Meal??

How much kelp meal would you add to a 50 lb. bag of mineral to get the right amount of consumption?  Would the cows eat it if you put kelp and mineral out separate?  Can cows get too much kelp?

"Cowboy" has been in a bad wreck

I would be more than glad to donate semen.  It's some I might not use (wrong breed) but very useful for others.  I suggest Breedersworld.  Could someone that have used them for their own sales contact Roger?  If we donate semen, is there a way to minimize or get a semen company to contribute...

    Conception Rates and Weather

With the up and  down temperatures and wet weather the past month, has any one else had cows not settling?  Last year was bad also with getting cows bred and a lot of other people told me they were having trouble.  So I didn't feel quite as bad knowing I wasn't alone.  This year seems to be a...

    Conception Rates for TAI

I'm sure this has been covered in the past, but thought I might get some new, updated info.  For those of you that TAI only after using CIDR protocol, what is your conception rate?  Do you do the AI'ing or have an AI tech do it?  Do you manage your herd any differently with TAI than you would if...

Battery Life of Battery Powered Fencer

We're putting up some temporary fence on the back side of our pasture away from electric.  What are your thoughts and experiences with battery powered fencers and how long can I expect the battery to last?  It's a deep cycle marine type 12 volt and the distance we're covering with two wires is...

    What Bull to Flush To

Going to flush a Sunseeker cow.  I've settled on Drivin 80 or No Worries.  Which would you use?  We breed primarily for clubbies, so No Worries might be better.  But Drivin 80 is interesting, especially to get more maternal females.

What to Flush a Sunseeker to

Have a Sunseeker cow we're going to have to send to town because of a bad udder, 2 bad quarters and the other 2 are very light.  We just put her 3 week old calf on a cow that just lost her's.  She's a big, wide, attractive baldy Sunseeker/Maine cow weighs about 1600.  She's only a 6 year old. ...

    Syncing After Bull Exposure

Well, that's the first thing we thought.  Why did the bull destroy two gates to get to the pen these heifers were in?  There were two heifers.  I asked how the heifer was acting.  Did she have her tail sticking out, did she have a hump in her back, was she dirty, was her hair ruffed up, did she...

    Syncing After Bull Exposure

Not sure what to do.  We're going to help a friend by AI'ing his heifer with him bringing her to us so we could CIDR, heat detect and breed.  He said the heifer got out with his herd bull the night before he was going to bring her to us to start the process.  He doesn't think he bred her (not...
