    WS A Step Up

Cpu sorry I didn't see your post at first. If I told you i knew I'd be lying, this is my first calf crop. I have him on purebred Simmy and angus cows. Not sure it matters, just don't breed him to a dink. Of all the step up daughters I saw at bruhns my only complaint was of the 15 or 20 they had...

    WS A Step Up

Kaxx I posted one a month or so ago when he came home from stud. He came from stud, bred cows at two different farms then back to stud so not much time off. I'd guess him to weigh a ton or better in his working clothes. He's no dink that's for sure, and can walk across frozen ground without...

    WS A Step Up

If any of you guys get in central illinois very welcome to come see him and a bunch of calves. Only 40 minutes northwest of Springfield. I thought the same thing kaxx, at bruhns sale they had a bunch of step up breds, very consistent and not for sure but as I sire group thinking the had to have...

    WS A Step Up

Yes it is cab. I've done a lot of apologizing to those guys that paid to get in on that even though I had nothing to do with it. Once I bought the bull I was supposed to get a list of who was in on that and continue doing things the way they had been done. After several calls and no list I...

    WS A Step Up

Glad to hear you guys like the calves. Got 15 on the ground so far, 14 unassisted out of heifers. 1 we had to help straighten a leg then the calf popped right out. Birthweights on all calves have been moderate this year almost all high 70's and that's out of big heifers. Had a upgrade calf that...

    Haylage vs regular hay

I don't have any experience with haylage, but bale 10,000 big squares/year individually wrapped for baleage. The big difference is the individual wrap, more plastic and more equipment but you don't have to worry about spoiling a row in warm weather. It can make ok feed great feed. Having a...

    Step up home from stud

Photo fail guys. Had lots of people ask for one and looked good but disproportionate now that I posted it. I'll try again

    Step up home from stud

Picked him up on my way home from bruhns yesterday. As always jay, Scott, and rest of the crew at nichols did a great job. Came home from stud, bred 35 at my place. Went to bob john angus bred 20 more, then back to stud. I think it's time for a winter break.

    A step up calves

Great to hear woody! I planned on getting one before he went back to stud but it didn't work out time wise. I will be picking him back up in the next month then have a mature picture before breeding season issues come out. I'm proud as a peacock of him, came home from stud, bred cows at my place...

    A step up calves

Glad to hear that husker. Ryan at Hudson pines said they will have 8-10 step up bulls at the sale in Montana. Really likes them

    A step up calves

To start I own the bull so may be biased haha, but here are some things to chew on. 3 heifers selling on Hudson pines sale, catalog is up. They had. Division winner and supreme overall with step up offspring. Harkers in Indiana led their sale with one, brought 29,000. Two others (that I know of)...

    Step up out of stud

Thanks Marc, when I was there and first looked at him I tried taking pics of several bulls but never got one to do any bull justice. I'm not a angus guy but I thought big softy was a stud and liked step ahead. Unfortunately I didn't get to pick him up, had a friend bring him. I really wanted to...

we had a young herd bull semen tested

Some bulls don't respond well. I had a bull for 10 years, semen tested him every year never able to collect a sample. Sent him to town at 12 and never missed a cow. Always made me nervous. If you've seen him breed I wouldn't be worried. I always watch my yearlings get one confirmed breeding...

    Step up out of stud

Genesaw, hoping to slick shear him this week then they'll be one. For five years old and been standing in stud he covers his tracks to a t. In a Simmy that's what I feel we need to focus on

    Step up out of stud

Both you could say, I used sexed semen of his on most and now that he's out of stud cleaning up what didn't take. Isn't a whole lot we are at 80% conception using sexed semen. Very very happy

    Step up out of stud

Hey everyone, WS A Step Up X27 arrived at his new home last night. I couldn't be happier with how he looks, hope to have a mature picture soon. If anyone is coming through central Illinois and would like to see him, you're welcome to stop.

Who should I breed my PB Angus HEIFER to (pic)

To whoever said use big softy. I was at Nichols before Denver and loved big softie. I'm no angus man but if I was it would be in the tank
