Tying up calves for first time suggestions

You dont want to get someone hurt as big as they are so the way I break them is dependent on how mellow they are. I use a stock trailer put the calf in and open the divider and get in with the calf  i give it enough room to run past if it feels to much pressure and just walk around with it and...

    th phenotypes

here is one word for people to think about who say th has a phenotype. THRILLER. 95 perecent of the people that go off the look of a calf would have lost money if they bet on him. Looks the part and double clean. What would be fun is if they would blood test at these terminal shows to see how...

thoughts on what to flush her to

I know they are older bulls but when looking at maines to keep heifers from there are 3 I would look at chill factor or habanero and considering the high birth wight I would put witchdoctor in the mix. One of my most productive cows is a 13 year old witch doctor granddaughter.

Is this the thickest Shorthorn heifer you've seen?

no its not optical illusion they are finer boned. 25 yrs ago when we only raised a few freezer calves dad always ran a piedmont bull on the cows. they would typically only loose 30 to 35 percent due to finer bone and extra muscle.  when we started the show herd dad was mad that all that cross...

    Proposed Child Labor Laws

How is this not going to directly effect 4-h and ffa. How many kids are showing and fitting other peoples animals. By the proposed law they can not be in pens with bulls and cow calf pairs. Does that not mean since those animals are not there familys at the show they couldn't be in the ring...

    Proposed Child Labor Laws

It actually wouldn't be that hard to get big names backing you. you just have to pick the right cities, states and counties to contact. Get a hold of louisville, denver, houston, kansas city, and any other city with a national show and tell them and the state they are in what they are going to...

a lot of the same  quite a few monopoly sons. if used right I kinda liked call of duty a heat seeker cross. I think swag showed some potential for a more maternal type monopoly x kadabra/glitter pretty smooth made and like the fact he had one of the larger sc judging buy just looking.

not sure if selling or keeping yet. Its early still but never had a calf with as much bone as him this early so might be worth keeping. On the other hand already have 15 half sisters in the herd.

    Breaking Bulls

You might also want to check the rules of where you want to show I know some shows require anything over 18 months to have a permanent ring.

Problem with Club Calf Industry...thoughts please

yes but this does matter in real world. Its the one thing keeping cattle as a whole on a united front. Use the hog industry for example. They have a uniform finish with sound enough movement, that they can pull a market gilt out and breed her aslong as she hasnt been fed paylean or some other ...

Problem with Club Calf Industry...thoughts please

I think the worlds are closer together than people see.Iif you would shed out the show cattle and wash the feedlot cattle you would see a lot of similarities in the two groups. both groups are looking for heavy muscle, proper finish, daily gain(cost to finish), and so forth. I think the biggest...
