    Draxxin, Micotil, Nuflor

http://redangusworld.com/resources/2012-10/Antibiotic%20Resource%20Guide.pdf This is a useful "quick reference guide" I ran across.Very helpful if you don't use these drugs often. Most all "modern" antibiotics are referenced and provides among other info-class of drug, withdrawal, injection...

https://animalhealth.pfizer.com/sites/pahweb/US/EN/Products/pdf/Excede_Dairy/EXD_BOE_ADMIN_TECHNIQUES_TB.pdf Good info here as far as the ear injection site for exceed. A couple more approved methods for injection in the base of the ear approved for both dairy and beef cattle. To me, these...

Infection at castration site of show steer . PLEASE HELP MY SON.

Though I am certain I have seen and successfully treated more than my share of complications from barnyard surgery, I obviously do not have the medical vocabulary to continue on this particular thread. Thus, I will yield the rest of my time on this thread to the previous poster. I will leave...

Infection at castration site of show steer . PLEASE HELP MY SON.

Our normal treatment for what you describe is any broad spectrum antibiotic-penicillan G, LA 200, etc should work. The antibiotics like Draxxin, Micotil, Nuflor are for respiratory disease and are usually not as effective against infection such as what you describe. Plus they are very expensive...

Rate of gain question for market steers

Leanbeef hit the nail on the head. Though you don't have to feed a high priced, premixed show ration with all the supplements for hair and joints-you do have to meet the nutrition needs of the animal to achieve your desired level of performance. Michael Phelps didn't win gold medals eating rice...

    IPhone

There is another thread going now about herd management software. Cattlemax appears to be the tool of choice and it has a mobile version/app. There is a monthly subscription for it though. I use a couple of excel spreadsheets, sync and store them in Dropbox(cloud storage) and access them on my...

Rate of gain question for market steers

If 2#/day is all you are looking for I guess that diet would achieve those results. However, I would want to gain at least somewhere in the 3#/day so the steer will weigh around 1250-1300 by weigh in and hope to get him to grade choice. Grass and soy hulls probably won't get that done unless he...

    castrating calves question about showing???

It will depend on the size of the calf and the chose method of castration. A 500 pounder castrated with a blade would take 3-4 weeks to be completely healed.

    THE FAIRNESS POLICE

The wide range of viewpoints on this subject never ceases to amaze me. I'm pretty much with Gonewest on this. There are rules in all we take part in and they are the vital component of a civil society. However, whether it be steer shows or homecoming float building, the measures some...

    Help with Break-even

As a banker I can appreciate a good spread sheet and that certainly is a good 1. However, most ventures that won't work on envelop/or napkin break even analysis, certainly won't work when analyzed to the detail of this spread sheet. These costs can be so variable from one operation to the next...

    Question for camera experts...

http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=CNEOSRDT3I2LK&id=CNEOSRDT3I2LK&&kbid=* I'm no camera expert, but we bought a 2ti from Abes of Maine back in May. The link is for the same set up in the best buy ad I think. The lenses included at BB and Abes are IS-image stabilization which I am told is...
